I bought my iPhone 5S from an Apple Store to replace my iPhone 4S on the Verizon network. I believe this sale gets credited to Apple and not to Verizon. If I recall correctly, Apple managed iPhone 5S supply so as to attempt to steer traffic to the Apple stores.

Wait, what? Hold the iPhone. All we know is 6.2M iPhones were activated in the year-ago quarter. 9M LTE activations and a decrease in overall smartphone activations YOY doesn't tell us anything about anything. Did iPhone growth slow YOY, probably, assuming activations are roughly equal to sales ( Well if 6.2M iPhones were sold last year and Verizon only sold 9M Smartphones this year, Apple would need to sell almost 70% of that just to match last years 6.2M. Either way, selling only 9M Smartphones in a quarter doesn't give a lot of room for growth in iPhone activations for Verizon. Here is my WAG on all this... 1. Samsung sucked balls. More iPhones sold. 2. TMUS is eating Verizon's lunch.

I don't believe so...I believe the sale gets credited to the network it's activated on...I can't see these results being positive for Apple unless TMobile and AT&T are crushing Verizon.

It's nice having the Former VP of the US on the board of apple. He probably has some influence over the court monitor issue. Feeling good about apples chances of flicking that bug off the table

Same here; we both bought our 4S's at Verizon two years ago, but went to the Apple Store this year (which, BTW, could not have been a better experience). I think there could be a real swing from carrier sales to Apple Store sales this holiday season. EDIT: Just saw vitalogy's post; can anyone else confirm? (No offense intended, V)

Agree that NTT Docomo likely can make up for any US carrier shortfalls.
But is anyone else concerned about these Earning's day surprises that keep popping up without notice - China Warranty settlement.. Deferred Revenue for software now free..

Ok - been dying to ask....whose picture is THAT on your avatar, aapl4kiki? Looks like a wild and crazy guy! Jony Ive after he lets himself go and goes to work for Samsung. At Samsung, that outfit is impeccable taste.
