Good morning all While you were sleeping: - Asia: mixed - Europe: green - US futures: green (but it's Jobs Friday so until that number comes out we really don't know which direction the market will go) - AAPL PM: $649.05 (+$1.70) or (+0.26%) Snapshot news on AAPL: - Apple Insider: Apple, Inc. opens up access to its WWDC developer utopia: appleinsider.com/articles/14/06/05/apple-inc-opens-up-access-to-its-wwdc-developer-utopia - MACNN: Cook, Cue spotted at formal opening of Apple's Austin campus: www.macnn.com/articles/14/06/05/talked.beats.acquisition.ahrendts.hiring.exciting.new.products/ - BBC News: Technology: Apple in row with start-up over HealthKit name: www.bbc.com/news/technology-27713242 - Apple Insider: Australian Apple Store employees agree to new contract terms with increased base pay: appleinsider.com/articles/14/06/06/australian-apple-store-employees-agree-to-new-contract-terms-with-increased-base-payToday is the last day of the WWDC 2014. It is also the last day we are trading with a "6" handle. Monday begins post split trading. The debate rages on as I read different sites about whether AAPL trades off or up on Monday. I have entirely too much anecdotal evidence that it will trade up so I am biased but everyone is entitled to their opinion - and by the way - no one knows with certainty. We closed strong yesterday. The PIN hasn't been very reliable in this move so not sure we can look to it. I'm wondering for those of us that have options, will the MMs steal a little premium from us in this split? Suffice to say this is a bit unprecedented and we will just have to wait to see. But the best days of Apple are ahead of us for sure Enjoy the day ~ see you at the bar tonight!

I am wondering how many dumb headlines we may see on Monday from the great unwashed freaking out about Apple's precipitous fall in share price over the weekend?

The jobs number is fine....so I think we push 650 early today and end our triple digit days ( temporarily) at 649.75
WAG!

That is one terrible design. I think it's very unlikely Apple is going to market a bracelet for men and women.

Guys - now I know a hidden reason why apple bought beats. Think of all the celebrities wear beats. Dre and Ioivine are cool..... I bet they will get similar celebrities to endorse iwatch. Imagine a pair of wireless headphones streaming music from your watch (with an apple like user interface).
Game over

I am wondering how many dumb headlines we may see on Monday from the great unwashed freaking out about Apple's precipitous fall in share price over the weekend? Who knows - Zabitsky may show up to say he was ultimately correct on share price - after all he never did say if it would get there on its own or after a split!

The $60 million Bet on $700 AAPL by October au.ibtimes.com/articles/554959/20140606/aapl-apple-inc-stock-wwdc.htm#.U5HARBZb7LTApple Inc. Bullish Streak Leads Major Investor to Bet on Stock to Exceed $700 by October Apple Inc's bullish streak in the stock market has one major options trader betting big money for the company to break $700 by October. A major investor is putting almost $60 million on Apple shares in of biggest options trades on June 4. On that day, 20,000 Apple 675-strike call options were being traded at $21.30 per share. According to a CNBC report, each call contract will give an investor the right to purchase 100 shares at given price within a set time. This results in a $43 million bet that Apple shares will go beyond $696. Why would a major options player do their entire trade in 1 transaction, instead of spreading it over a few days so that it doesn't alert other people, or cause a supply/demand imbalance so they overpay? Is the publicity advantage worth it?

Good Lord, no. It looks like what MS half-baked up years ago. I was part of a study group on that one. What a POS. A big hint: Jony Ive loves watches, and he wouldn't wear this on his wrist if it could transport all analysts into another galaxy. Whatever Apple launches, I hope it can be personalized, perhaps through different bands, materials, sizes and yes, clock faces (easy to do). It needs to be round and early rumors suggest that it will be. Sapphire crystal....check. This is closer to what I'd like to see, focusing on the size more than the clock face, varieties of which can be licensed through Patek Philipe, Rolex, etc.

Could just be betting Vega/IV would increase post-splitting. Delta is only an icing. Closed them once Vega/IV increase. No need to wait till expiry or AAPL to hit those prices.

I believe RSUs vested a couple of months of the due date suffices to meet TC's requirement. Moreover, would be getting plenty more each year. No need to hold them. Remember they are executives not business persons or investors. Holding shares and never sell is an alien concept.

WOW! The $60 million Bet on $700 AAPL by October au.ibtimes.com/articles/554959/20140606/aapl-apple-inc-stock-wwdc.htm#.U5HARBZb7LTApple Inc. This results in a $43 million bet that Apple shares will go beyond $696. The thing that I always about these kinds of transactions is: 1) Who sold these options to this person? 2) Is the seller of those options betting that the stock doesn't reach that point? 3) And if not, how does the seller of those options arrange the transaction such that is isn't a bet on the stock not reaching that point? As far as I am aware, options, unlike stock, are indeed a zero-sum game. Whatever the buyer gains, the seller loses, for each and every options contract.

No one bothered to read the SEC filing. Sent two tweets to bloggers as an experiment. This isn't so much about what she was permitted to do as much as it is about perception. She's a 30 day, freshly-minted VP and she dumps. I seriously doubt she needs a clothing allowance. She may meet Tim's minimum, but it's not exactly a strong vote of confidence. There are 13k contracts at $650. Not sure if AAPL hurdles that after the recent run. And besides, AAPL will be "cheaper" on Monday, as CNBC will likely report,

Common Stock (2) 6/1/2014 F 8331 D $633.00 7933 D
( 2) Shares withheld by Registrant to satisfy the minimum statutory tax withholding requirements on vesting of restricted stock units. No shares were sold.
Statutory tax withholding by the Registrant. No shares sold. It's perception generated by US tax law.

Call me crazy, but 645+ into the close seems bullish. I may just be dumb enough to buy in a little more today. (Which was obviously non-advice just then. )

Angela may have sold for tax purposes? Isn't June 15th the tax estimate date for income with no withholding like there are in RSUs? Yep. Let's not read too much into it.
Second, the company would not be paying a premium to buy shares in a buy back - they would sell puts and collect premium.
The reason a person would do one big trade in the options is because they probably pre-negotiated it and the market maker or the firm that positioned it in some way just figured out the price and traded it. If they did that size in pieces - the word would spread on the floor and everyone would front run.
If someone is buying calls does not mean that someone sold them naked. They delta hedged them with stock in order to have a neutral position - that's what risk traders do all day long.

She didn't even sell, Apple did as the SEC Registrant. With the RSU grant, I guess tax withholding is automatic. So, I guess one of the ways for Apple to protect Ahrendts from that rather high-dollar side effect of a "signing bonus" is to "dispose" of the shares. I wonder if this utterly wrong reporting will continue each time an RSU vesting date rolls around and no one checks the footnotes first.
