The Bar is Open! Making your way in the world today takes everything you've got. Taking a break from all your worries, sure would help a lot.
Wouldn't you like to get away?
Sometimes you want to go
Where everybody knows your name, and they're always glad you came. You wanna be where you can see, our troubles are all the same You wanna be where everybody knows Your name. What'll ya have?!

Guacamole. Because I'm looking to buy the dip Mav - where are you looking for the dip? I'm seeing some say between 88-90 while others as low as 83-85 and yet others saying 90 is strong support. What are you thinking?

I wish I knew Not even sure if my spam post/crayon research will help me make up my mind. But supposedly strong trends hold stuff like mid-channel (SMA-20) when there's a retrace. That's around 90. Who knows if AAPL will, but it "should". Redler seems to think the EMA-21 is around 88.5. I have no idea where he's getting that from. Not seeing any reference levels around there. There's more than one way to calculate an EMA? I'd ask iPad, but, well...

Thanks - I'll see what I can find out - will look around this weekend and let you know if I see anything that makes sense Hey appledoc - you looking at your charts this weekend? Given how we ended up - what's your best assessment? Maybe Mace or LMIP or doc will post on technical thread this weekend. There are also several others here that are at the top of their game on TA as well and will hopefully post.

Don't fully agree, though it's a very good read.
I doubted Tim Cook and Peter Oppenheimer not so much on execution, but the evasiveness during conference calls. That switch to sequentials bothered the heck out of me (I believe that was fiscal Q1 2013?) As did the grumpy atmosphere of Q3 2012. Something like that.
Of course, tech pundits have to hyperfocus for their own purposes/reasons, so that's all well and good I guess. But sometimes you have to take things at face value. Tim Cook went with collaboration and other tweaks because he thought it would work better, and wouldn't you know it, it seems to be working better.
I was bullish on the "operations guy" taking over Apple because not only is Tim Cook a Demigod of SCM (I've 'demoted' him from "Living God" in my infinitely questionable wisdom, but demigod's still pretty badass), he's a longtime student of Steve Jobs and the Apple Way, you can tell in his every sentence. That equates to someone far more capable than "operations guy". He's the furthest thing from a Steve Ballmer-type "second in command". And it'll only be more and more apparent by 2015.

Oh, jeez....the Kings beat the Rangers so Phoebs is gonna need a stronger drink....
As to the Gruber piece, the awful earnings calls now, in hindsight, make more sense to me. The Battleship on confluence and continuity was turning but at the time was a bit in the fog.
Gruber's point about how "laser focused" (pardon the expression) Apple execution, vision, leadership and product rollout SEEM to have become recently belies the point that it was always there, hidden in plain sight. Cook and Oppy could see it....others not so much.

Cook and Oppy could see it....others not so much. Hot coffee - strong - is my drink this morning. Awful end to the game. With hockey over now I have to wait for the fall....baseball World Series and football starts. I've been watching the World Cup a bit - Spain's loss against the Netherlands was awful. I was born in the US my parents were from two different parts of Europe - they loved soccer (so do many of my relatives, siblings, etc.) - nieces have all gone to college on soccer scholarships - I (and my kids) personally just couldn't get into the game in any great way for one reason: the whole drama / faking it nonsense that goes on. I just don't understand that whole thing - and yet every team does it. It seems like it's part of the game. Why don't they just play and validate themselves through their skills and athleticism? To be fair, I see a bit of it in hockey as well....particularly the Canadiens this year who had to be castigated by the league on it. It's just childish and totally incomprehensible to me. That being said, when they actually get around to playing the game, then it's a thrill to watch. I don't want to be blasted for talking sports - altho please allow me this one little indulgence this morning as I drown my sorrows in my morning coffee. I'll miss Mr. Lundquist (nice eye candy for the ladies) during these summer months but there's always next year. He really played his heart out but his offense didn't give him a hand. You need to score goals to win a game. Have to hand it to LA - they are scruffy animals. Quite frankly, they don't play like an LA type team (yep, I'm throwing out a little insult there) - they play like a NY or Boston team. Sorry, California folks...a picture of a laid back surfing dude comes to mind in my tainted NY mind when I think of an LA athlete. Ok - enough. Middle East continues in turmoil ... haven't read any AAPL articles this morning that could move the needle but I'm on the hunt. AND before I forget, enjoy Father's Day this weekend for all you dads out there. It's the title I'm sure you are the proudest to ever have in life

Gruber's article is the best summary of what Apple has become under Cook and their potential I have read in a long long time. I esp. like his point about having the size to finally make controlling the hardware matter in such a major way. Only in the last few years have they controlled the hardware, software, AND had the market muscle to make it really count with costs and other advantages. No other company has all three.

I think there's still some more to retrace. Not easy to count waves from 94.76 to now, but it doesn't look like it's done. Look for 90.51 first. That should be close to the SMA20 when we get to it. If that doesn't hold, look for 87.82. That area should hold.

Why is MSFT trading so strong? This company has to hurt with PC sales sucking, OS licensing fees cut, mobile strategy burning money, etc. And the Cloud commercials are just stupid -- who cares??? Is Nadella's honeymoon about to end?
I am tempted to short MSFT for June earnings.

It's kinda funny how lots of people went from bullish to confused on Nadella in relatively short order.
But tripling down on Surface might do that

AND before I forget, enjoy Father's Day this weekend for all you dads out there. It's the title I'm sure you are the proudest to ever have in life Yeah, I played soccer when in like the 11-12 yr old AYSO league back in the late 70's, before the term "soccer mom" or "minivan" were even coined. Now, of course, it's ubiquitous in Orange County. I didn't want to play this sport I'd never had any interest in, but my parents made me. I was mediocre, but our hand-selected team was dominating. We went to the state playoffs and lost in Palm Springs in a prolonged overtime shootout to another "11-12 yr old" team, many of whom had 5 o'clock shadow. Anyhow, our best offensive player was this blonde kid named Darren. He was a dervish. But, at least twice a game, he would fall to the ground as if he'd been hit by sniper fire. He'd lay there as if mortally wounded, call for medics, and would be helped off the field like a gravely wounded soldier. Invariably, within 10 minutes, Darren be running the field again like Pele, unstoppable by any goalie. My dad, who was raised on football in the old school tradition, called this "grandstanding." "Never grandstand, son," was his mantra. Later, when I was playing high school football, anyone who tried "grandstanding" on a football field would be mercilessly taunted, so you rarely, if ever, saw it. I went to a tough parochial school, and our freshman football coach - who spoke like 6 languages and had a master degree in theology from the University of Gregorian in Rome - said the only excuse for lying on a football field was that you were dead; and, if he came out to see you lying on a football field and you weren't dead, you'd wish you were. My HS dominated football in those years (2 straight titles). We had a QB from those teams play 17 years in the NFL, despite being sacked a million times. I recall a linebacker 3 years ahead of me playing with the flu, and vomiting in the end zone between plays. I grew up idolizing the Rams' linebacker Jack Youngblood, and even wore his #85. He played in Super Bowl XIV with a broken leg. Real men simply do not grandstand.

Sometimes it takes a ridiculous amount of evidence to change an opinion.
Well, opinions are changing. Tim Cook: "Hey, it's about time."

I'd have to say... there is nothing better than a full checking hockey game. I live in a country where hockey (ice or inline) is a curiosity but have just taken up the sport with my kids in the last couple of years. Holy crap it's fun! I actually broke my ankle last year playing and attempted to come back on the rink after a bit of ice...thought better of it, but drove home after the game... Can't say I have a fave between rangers and kings so for me its all good.
