The bar is open! So after a week of turmoil AAPL is down 21 cents. The major SNAFUs have been responded to; "resolved" is a slippery word in the land of FUD, but I do give Tim and company credit for responding quickly and pretty effectively. 22 more markets begin selling iPhone 6/+ today. Everyone predicts rising ASPs. Not much happening from the competition. October event still pending. So let's have a bit more good cheer around this joint! What'll ya have?

I've got to hand it to JDSoCal: his BTFD was spot on! I was actually waiting and hoping for a dip into 98. I sure hope others here took advantage of the discounted share price. I remain a bull.

Unbox guy responds with alleged uncut video and possibly freakingishly strong hands? <2 day response isn't that bad, even by normal (not Apple) standards. And mild hysteria not backed up my data doesn't really qualify as a snafu as much as a manufactured one. 8.0.1, now that's a full-blown fiasco/snafu. Apple should consider itself lucky only 40k users were affected. Anyways, everything mellowed out just in time for the weekend.

I was counting on the Macalope to put this past week in perspective.....there are some fine observations and quotes here..... Just a typical launch... www.macworld.com/article/2687898/just-your-typical-launch.html"If we’re going to get to the root of Apple’s problem (shh, just play along), how better to do it than to get some guy we’ve never heard of to talk about the company for a couple of minutes on TV?"

Actually picked up some Jan 17 calls. I had sold some puts at $97 and $98 which expired Friday. On Thursday, it really looked like I would be put the shares, but Friday's recovery put an end to that. So, pocket the premium and sell some more puts again on Monday. I think I'll target the $94-96 range this time.

Sigh.
Upgraded to 8.0.2 last night. Today I found that several of my settings got changed: Airplane Mode on, Bluetooth off, Display Brightness almost minimized.
Not a big deal, but...annoying.
Maybe now that the new product categories have been revealed, Tim can get the company back to focusing on quality assurance.

One thing that bothers me and has not received much comment is an implication of 8.0.1. I have to wonder why an update was necessary so soon after the 8.0 release. Evidently the bugs it fixed were so serious that it was rushed through QA. I wonder if it was related to the BASH virus?

Actually that happened to me when I upgraded to 8.0 -some of my settings changed. The difference is that you are all geeks and can blame the software....I blamed myself and thought for sure I tapped on a button or screwed it up myself somehow. PS just downloaded 8.0.2 ... all works perfectly fine .. no settings were adjusted ... we're humming.

Watch and Pay? Those feel like two new categories to me... oh, I consider Pay a feature on an existing category (+ the new watch), like TouchId and Siri before it.

While pay cuts across (or will) hardware lines like the examples you give, it has a completely separate set of "supplier" relationships, analogous to the manufacturing relationships for hardware, and its revenue is independent of the cost of goods. I certainly expect it to be accounted for separately in the company earnings reports. I doubt very much that we are going to hear, for example, that the watch accounted for $x billion in sales and $y billion in payments. Of course this is a guess, and I welcome other opinions.

If someone would clarify I would be appreciative: from all I have read I do not see an "official" announcement from the Company (AAPL) or the Chinese Gov re: Oct. 10th launch. Am I incorrect? Not that we need anything whatsoever to be official to hit the press these days but I just wanted to make sure I didn't miss something. Do we expect something official - or no?

Has anybody been able to get the Health app to find sources? Nothing appears, and I can't figure out how to link the capable apps to source data.

I was in one of the smaller Seattle area Apple stores yesterday, and was able to compare the new phones, finding the 6 worked better for my wife and I.
Busy in the store, and it struck me than Angela might do well to include some sound-deadening material if she decides to put the Apple stores on a slightly different aesthetic tack.
There was a line of perhaps 30 people waiting outside the store; almost all Asians. I assume they were waiting to pick up phones?
