I think the very fact that I’m setting up this thread means I’ll be buying an iPhone 5 in the very near future… Anyway, for those of us looking into some add-ons or cases/screen protectors for their new iPhone 5 - feel free to post recommendations or questions here (for those “early adopters” looking for vendors with a good history) or reviews (once the iPhone 5 and said accessories actually ship).

Monoprice - that more of a "budget" brand? I'd like more opinions on them. I remember them as the "cheap Dock Connector cable company".

On the other extreme of the spectrum (those of us who pay ridiculously high prices for accessories) , I've traditionally gone with Power Support (USA) crystal film for my 4/4S and have been pretty happy about it. I am unbelievably impressed with my Spigen iPad crystal film, which was the first Spigen anything I ever bought. I'm a lighter iPad user, though. I've been using Speck PixelSkin HD via the iPhone 4 case program for my 4S. Despite the tradeoffs of having a considerable break-in period, being tough to install and being too slippery for a silicon-type case (read: higher risk of it slipping out of your hand), it's pretty solid. It's mostly immune to that disconcerting loosening feeling over time, though that inlay for the camera has about a one-year usage life. Btw, I'm having trouble remembering the name of that accessory maker that made an awesome (but not=super-durable) topography-type design silicon case for the iPhone/3G/3GS.

I buy all my cables (HDMI, A/V, Cat 5) from Monoprice. The prices are cheap, but the quality is very good. As for screen protectors, I started off with one from Acase, but the Monoprice ones were dirt cheap so I gave those a try once the Acase one got decently scratched up. I've heard the Speck PixelSkin is much like the Incipio NGP. I haven't had any problems with the NGP slipping around, and the fit is pretty good. Easy to install/uninstall as well.

Agreed Monoprice is awesome. Would be even better if they sell cheap 30 pin Apple cables too.

Uh...I think you meant Lightning cables?
That one could take awhile for third-party solutions to find their way to the Apple Store beyond the big speaker docks or whatever. Here's hoping it doesn't, but lucky for me, I _think_ I can make it work with an extra Lightning Cable or two if I must since almost every adapter/charger I have has a USB port (I'm assuming the Lightning Cable can deliver 2.1A power over USB the same way the Dock Connector cables can).

Yeah, but Apple cables of any sort, really.

Incipio has 5 case styles in various colors for iPhone 5; macmall has those cases for half the cost listed on the incipio site.

So the Monoprice screen protectors arrived today, and well, they totally messed up the cutouts on them. See for yourself (Ignore the bubbles, I'm too lazy to get them out at the moment): I'll go order something else, but will use this in the meantime.

I go neked with my iPhone 4. No case. I like the feel of the phone in my hand, a cover ruins that experience for me. And, I like to be able to put it in my pocket without getting too bulky. A cover makes it too bulky. Plus I figure Apple goes to great lengths to engineer a piece of working art and believe it would be a shame to cover it up. And, No protective film. It's gorilla glass - pretty tough to scratch. Plus the film dulls the screen. I don't like that. I like bright, crisp and clean. Go Neked.

That looks like the pics we usually get from the rumor mills. LOL Does not even look like an iphone5, seems to rounded.
The cutouts are definitely off center on the top and I am not sure what is going on with the bottom.

So I got a message back from Monoprice regarding the cutouts. The reason the top cutouts have extra space to the left is because that's where the ambient light and proximity sensors are. Still doesn't explain the bottom cutout, however. And I'm guessing that covering the 2 sensors with a clear material doesn't really affect things much, as there's other protectors will normal looking cutouts. This document details case design considerations: developer.apple.com/resources/cases/Case-Design-Guidelines.pdfI also received the Incipio Frequency case today, and it feels nice and fits well, similar to the NGP case I had for the iPhone 4. It also came with a screen protector that is even more goofier than the Monoprice protectors I got. Same U-shaped cutout at the bottom and a trapezoidal cutout at the top that also avoids the 2 sensors.

Just ordered a green/black Otter Box Commuter for my iPhone 5. Will update with comments after it arrives and I use it for a bit.
