AAPL holding up quite well.
If the market can find a bottom, might AAPL rise faster than the market with some wind in its sails? I don't expect much next week for AAPL unless the market finds its footings and we get more than new iPads and iMacs next week.

A little Martha Clara glacier wine from the North Fork with some 60% dark cacao nibs tonight. Very excited to see the holiday lineup next week. I should find out if my March talk in Orlando got picked up too. Learning & Performance Ecosystem - of course Apple will play prominently. Heck, the Watch will probably be out by then! More wine...

"Retailers unwilling to adopt NFC that's in at least tens of millions of Android smartphones already, seeing as Android failed to increase EMV contactless use much at all"
That, I can understand. It was all Wave 'n Pray and Tap to Pay before. Now it's Apple's turn at bat.

Never mind independent retailers. Inquiring with my local aapl, Danbury, CT, store, they said no date or any other info was supplied other than being told it would be available in Oct. Could be one of the keys to the kingdom. Anxiously waiting!

If you're a retailer and you want to attract the best shoppers you'll eventually want to adopt Apple Pay. Think of all the credit card breaches lately. Almost all of them were POS malware (thanks Windows!). As a shopper, I'll be seeking out places that I know are safe. What a great selling point it will be to the older iPhone crowd and to the non-Apple folks when they see you using this system. Maybe I'm overly optimistic but an A8, better camera, etc. are great selling points but they're more subtle to the average user, not easy to see. Design (HW/SW) used to be that easy selling point until the copycats came out. This changes that. Ease of use right in your face. I just hope the rollout is as flawless as we expect it to be.

Except that there will be some imagined problem that will be widely reported on the news as "Paygate." The biggest Seattle TV station just had a piece about the supposed "Hairgate" of the iPhone 6. It never ends.

Anybody hearing/experiencing ATT having longer order fulfillment times than other companies selling iphone 6? Unscientific, but the Verizon seems to be quicker on delivery.
Ordered a Space Gray 64gb on 9-23 thru ATT Premier business division and ship date has never moved from 10-22 to 11-22 for delivery...

SPX is basically at its moment of truth here. Sitting right on the 200 day. Probably will get a bearish cross of the 21/100 day averages this week. Haven't seen that in almost two years. I'd be cautious here. May see a bloodbath next week.

Analysis from some guy I've never heard of with zero sources who writes an articled based on his "working hypothesis." What bullshit. Anyway, I am cranky from yesterday's trading abortion. I've decided that until mobile devices have full-featured applications (i.e., trading) instead of useless apps, they will remain in the toy column.

I must say...I really like the new Google Play TV ad. Hmmm..I wonder if it's because of the clean lines...white background...peppy techno music. You know...just like an Apple ad.

Just a warning though. It's been a very long while since the market has been tested technically.

My oldest son called the other day informing me I should sell my Apple stock because of the next antenna/map/bend/gate brewing with his purchase of his 6+ recently. He had it for 1 week and the screen cracked and it was in a soft case and he had not dropped it or damaged it. It just cracked. He was sure he would have to buy a new phone as he had no insurance and a weak case could be made that there was a impact point on the phone screen. Today he went to the Apple store in Albuquerque and they gave him a new 6+. He also took his old iPhone 5 in to have the battery replaced as Apple had told him they would replace the battery for free. When they got the battery in the home button would not work so they gave him a new 5 as well. No cost. I am not sure whether to keep the stock because of their great service or sell it because I am not sure how they make money with that level of customer service. Between our 3 families we probably have $40K worth of Apple products and this is the first time we have needed their customer service. Naturally I will keep the stock. What a great company.

Went to the local Apple Store yesterday to browse - it was buzzing with folks. Several at the door asking for the new iPhone and the clerk politely explained that they get shipments daily but lines form each morning and those people get the incoming phones. They are gone within minutes he's said. How many weeks since this launch? Demand seems insatiable! AND I can't begin to tell you how many people I know that are waiting to buy several each as Christmas presents ! It's a beautiful thing!

Actually it is not that difficult to get to $40k artman. If I add up all the multiple iPads, MacBook Pros, Apple TVs, iPods, iPhones that my husband and the kids have on multiple floors of this house and our beach house - I could easily get there as well...and I'm not including past purchases of devices I have already sold or given away.

I'll play: In my immediate field of view I see a G5 attached to a 22" Cinema Display, iPhone 4s, iPhone 1st Gen, MacbookPro attached to a 24" Cinema Display and a 32Gb iPad Air.......Not counting the Macs in the Kitchen and some collectables in the closet....

Yeah same. Started with that Mac LC when I was 11...tho I guess I didn't pay for that Question I have is whether or not I want a new Mac Pro or a iMac Retina

ENQUIRING MINDS NEED TO KNOW What is the age range of your THREE wives? $40K of Apple products? Actually this would be my two sons and their families with two sons each and I did not check for accuracy but just estimated. 3 Macs, 3 Mac Pros, 12 iPads, 8 iPhones, 2 Apple TVs, several warranties, and no telling how many iPods and iTunes and App purchases. Still might be a slight exaggeration and is probably closer to $30K but only two service calls and those rewarded with 2 new devices that we certainly did not expect. I repeat "what a great company."

At this point, the hidden bonus storyline might actually be fiscal Q2. I don't think this iPhone 6 wave will be totally over and done with in one fiscal quarter plus a week or so.

Futures look awful. On the other hand this is likely the better set up for a bounce.
Good luck people

It's only "awful" in the context of formerly-less-volatile markets. I can remember when 50 basis points in either direction wasn't _that_ that big of a deal.
That being said, volatility hasn't been a theme for much of the past, I dunno, year or two? So yeah, could get unpredictable tomorrow.
