Fire sale (again)Amazon can't get rid of those stupid phones! Ouch, that's gotta hurt. Since84, thanks as always for the great openings. Much appreciated!

Fire sale (again)Amazon can't get rid of those stupid phones! Ouch, that's gotta hurt. Since84, thanks as always for the great openings. Much appreciated! The company has made its latest move, this time offering the phone for just $199 unlocked — a $250 price cut off the phone’s already reduced price. Making it an even better deal, Amazon is still including a year of free Amazon Prime, meaning that for those that are already paying for Prime or looking to sign up, the phone is really just $99 extra with no need for a contract. Very tempting price. $199 is about cost of manufacture + 1 year PRIME (it is the free videos and books) What a deal... Uncle Walt is helping with a tweet: on.recode.net/1qFOitO

Quiet on the Board but AAPL is cooking. Volume is better than I expected and we're up nicely. What more could we ask?

Quotes are all over the place ... watching them on Google finance and they are jumping $.15 -.20 constantly. That's not a big deal but I usually see smaller movement ... assuming it's because of lighter than usual trading ?
Happy early ... T-Day to the longs ....
P.S. I know it's really sick ... but ... who's starting the thread tomorrow ? I can't imagine any of us will go the whole day without looking for news ... after all Europe will be open for business : )

I opened a December 5 spread this morning (119/121 at 66¢). Normally keep the long leg in the money (118/120 were trading at about 87¢) but expecting a Black Friday pop next week so took the added risk.

WRT to insider sales, Ferengi rule of acquisition #140:
In other news, if there is one thing that warms my heart, it's payback for betrayal. Vicious payback. Apple is getting ready to ditch Google as search engine for iOS and OS X (sorry for paywalled link, but I won't link to those Cult of Mac trolls where I found the article). GOOG down less than $2 today. Imagine if the world's largest retailer said it wasn't going to carry iOS devices anymore, what would happen to AAPL. Amazing how WS is more obsessed with round number milestones than with actual fundamental analysis. So much of Google's fortunes lie with iOS, but you never hear that on the financial news shows. Sad for Joe Retail who relies on those idiots for info. The one thing being an Apple investor has taught me: Do your own due diligence.

As far as as exec selling shares - I can't stress enough that most of these execs have a portion of their shares in 10b5-1 plans. They give their advisor a predetermined number months/quarters ahead of time - and the advisor liquidates that portion over the course of a certain number of days and reinvests in whatever - but usually diversified type portfolios. Often these execs put a fairly high stock price on it based on where the stock price is currently trading when they are initiating the program. It keeps you disciplined since that advisor will be trading in open periods as well as blackout periods. The exec cannot do anything during the blackout period....even if he knows the stock is going higher (or lower) -- all part of material non-public information. To be fair - if he had such information even during non-blackout periods - he still couldn't trade on it. Years ago I would help execs in this position and it was merely to diversify their holdings - nothing more, nothing less. That said, once in a while we had situaltions where an exec approached us and said they needed to make a sale because their wife found some ginormous house/compound. I remember another time where one exec was going through a divorce and needed to come up with a ton more of cash. Short of situations like that - execs, particularly with this visibility, sell shares in an orderly way and usually at arms length which is why they use 10b5-1 plans. In this way one could also never be accused of improper behavior (these plans become a documented affirmative defense against any allegations of insider trading accusations). If I were in Craig's shoes, I would do the same. FWIW

I used to crew on motor yachts like her in my early 30's. Met my wife in Florida on a yacht we worked on. Great life! I have been following "Venus" in Marine Traffic also. She recently came over from the Mediterranean to Palm Beach and now to the Bahamas. Have been across the Atlantic twice myself. Very cool. It is a bit creepy and scary to me as a former crew member to think that a boat I could be working on today can be tracked like this. We almost always had a gun onboard just in case. If I owned a yacht myself, I would have at least one crew member "security trained". I also follow Spielberg's "Seven Seas". Gorgeous yacht. Saw her in Florida a couple of years ago. She was in the Med this summer also.

Just for some perspective on the Fire sale, one of my favorite sites, DealNews.com, is teasing a great deal on a refurbished unlocked iPhone 5 w/ 32GB for $270. A refurbished phone that Apple doesn't even make anymore (launched in September 2012!) sells for considerably more than a new Fire. And it doesn't even come with one year of free two-day shipping of gun safes.

I check daily deals every day. they list 20-40 different sites. 9to5toys.com/daily-deals/There are 30 to 100 different products for sale every day.

OK, so I am going with $ 118.63 as ATCH before today, right?

Interesting list. Don't recall if I voiced it, but I am looking for Apple to top a trillion by 2016. Interesting to see this as #12. Perhaps I am being too conservative...

Well, I think I know what we're all thankful for this Thanksgiving. Congrats on the new ATCH, peeps. Schwab lists $119 closing too, despite the chart's $118.99. And yeah, that's an 11/28 Bull Put Spread at 114/115 that I bought on the dip last week.
