I hate to be a pessimist, but I keep reminding myself that this whole mini iPad thing has come from the press, our PE is around 15 and we have seen it as low as 12, and Elder has come out with some pretty strong FUD. I believe in Apple and would hold on all the way back to 100, but we may not be ready to rise again. Unless we are. And I feel strongly about that, but I could be wrong. Unless I am not. Maybe.

I hate to be a pessimist, but I keep reminding myself that this whole mini iPad thing has come from the press... To be fair, you won't hear about it from anywhere other than the press, leaks and analysts until Apple announce it. Apple certainly won't talk about it beforehand. There appears to be an interesting shift in people's thinking about the Apple television and the iPad mini with the latter being a multi-function remote for a television AND other smart household appliances. I wondered why Apple was promoting the Nest thermostat thing, but when put into context of having a remote for your house, then it makes much more sense as Apple push into the realm of the "smart house". Then to cap it all, this morning I got an email from Ebuyer, an online electronics retailer, specifically promoting a multi-function household remote made by Logitech. It makes me wonder whether Logitech have been given the heads up about the iPad mini and its true purpose, and are now pushing their own device ahead of an event.

Going into the remote business, could be a good move. Most of the time awful products, that don't speak to each other, ugly interface.... all that Apple need to reinvent and jumpstart a market that never took off.
I already use all my iDevices to control the tv (using software from logitech) even if not perfect, i Hate when i need to go back to standard remote. Being able to control my home from apart, using my iPhone could be a great. Just another layer in the ecosystems

What happens if all family members don't have an iOS device? They can be left with no remote at all, unless the iPhone is a secondary device. Then you need to invest time into maintaining two remote systems. Unless you want to dedicate something like an iPod Touch to the task. At that point you have a pretty expensive remote though.

Thank you for the added feature of PRE and After hours volume and prices on the home page. That decimal point almost had this GrandPa in a dither. I saw 91,000.00 in volume and thought it said 91 Million. Must get my eyes checked.

Andy isn't bullish enough, if you ask me. He's right that P/E has flattened, but he thinks it's staying here around 15. Another possibility is that it't just the first stage, first flattening and then heading up. Is it unreasonable to think AAPL could get to better than a market multiple with its amazing growth?

Going into the remote business, could be a good move. There seems to be a shift towards making even the most mundane of devices WiFi enabled. I've seen light bulbs, door locks and fridges all with some sort of WiFi capability. I think the iPad mini will be promoted as an iPad first but with all these additional remote capabilities, so it will be an iPad for your house. Apple already tested the water with their Remote iPhone app. Now it's a case of more tightly integrating things. With Siri you'll be able to talk to your house. "Siri, dim the lights." "Siri, record Breaking Bad." "Siri, set the temperature to 26 degrees Celcius." "Siri, is there any milk in the fridge?" "Siri, is my Tesla fully charged?" ...and so on.

"Siri, set the temperature to 26 degrees Celcius." ...and so on. That's kinda warm. Would create a whole new battle in room temperatures between couples.

Apparently the market has decided that a higher PE ratio for Apple is most definitely unreasonable, in spite of the growth numbers they have put up. I think Zaky is right in making the $1000 case with no PE expansion. If he is wrong on that, then we just get there faster. But right now, we have zero evidence that he is wrong. In fact, I think there is a pretty compelling case he is right.

My only concern about buying now is the unprecedented max pain wall of Jan 19 calls will all conspire to suppress the stock all the way to Jan earnings.
January earnings will be huge, much bigger than last year. Last year the PE compressed to around 12 and ran the stock to 644 not long after. After max pain is lifted and the the compression if the PE in January might be a good buying opportunity.

But Max Pain is dynamic so you can't just make an assumption like that - you need to give yourself some wiggle room.

Speaking of media invites, product releases, earnings etc. What was the exact wording used on the document that had a picture of a cresting something or another, "2012" at the top and then a message across the bottom that read something to the effect of We're just getting started, or This is just the beginning. I can't remember or find it for the life of me.

I mentioned two days ago that the breach in the bollinger band would be a signal buying to come in and that a short term uptrend would begin today. I think it is critical that aapl outperform the SNP and close green today!!!
