Hard to believe AAPL was $133 less than 3 weeks ago, but I guess we should all be used to "sell the news" by now. I thought "Spring Ahead" was fabulous (still wondering when Angela is going to get her moment; kinda a thought this might be the time, but at least Jeff Williams got to step into the spotlight briefly). Research Kit exemplifies the Tim Cook Apple (with no disrespect to the Steve Jobs Apple, of course). Still very curious about the retail plan for WATCH. Jose Cuervo been "berry, berry" good to me tonight. What'll ya have?

It wasn't stated very clearly but it sounded to me like the Apple Stores get the aluminum and stainless watches displayed within the parson's tables while the gold pieces go the high end jeweler route.

Meh. The chart is built on the back of prognosticators and their erroneous expectations.
"Sell the News" is something we should all be conditioned to and means NOTHING to the longer term trajectory of AAPL. New rumors are around the corner, and WS won't sell the news on a record breaking March quarter.
BTFD.

JD - You are bringing the economy up and Mace brought up the general market yesterday. As much faith as we have in AAPL it's a good time for all of us to remember that it is part of a bigger economy and a bigger market. One would think folks would flee to quality but often they use it as liquidity or simply "liquify" out of fear and stay in cash ... selling all ... even selling the great ones. Wednesday is the Fed meeting. Everyone is waiting for the word "patience" to come out of Yellen's statement. Will it? Won't it? What will it mean for the markets? I can assure you that PRIOR to Weds. it will probably mean quiet lackluster markets. No one is willing to make bets before the commentary. In addition, with all that is fueling this strength in the USD we haven't truly seen an avalanche of companies (with overseas exposure) come out and warn on earnings yet...and YOU JUST KNOW they don't have their act together on currency hedges given how precipitous the fall of the Euro was (although AAPL seems to manage to do it fairly well)....and here we are coming into earnings season! So why am I bringing this all up? Just to remind everyone to be a bit nimble ... and to remember that there is a bigger world out there that can whip us around even though we own the greatest company in the world /universe...be comfortable with your risk level... and keep the faith ... this too shall pass. Before the year is out we will be at ATH - I'm convinced - it's the journey I'm trying to navigate without getting too battered - enjoy your Saturday! I'll let you know if I see anything interesting on other blogs.

I'll let you know if I see anything interesting on other blogs. From Tim Cook's Mad Money call: Cramer: Do you think — well, do you think that... y'know, people are worried about the world, people worry about Europe, people worry about currency. Are we being, are those just the kinds of things that Wall Street worries about, and if you're at home, or you're watching, you own a hundred shares of Apple, you should just be thinking that Tim Cook and the team are ready for pretty much anything the world might throw at us? Cook: Currency's clearly a problem, but frankly the best companies will figure out a way to manage it. There have been a couple of reports recently of Apple raising prices in certain foreign markets... including here in the UK.

ResearchKit question...
Since announcement, there have been numerous headlines of 'thousands' signing up to participate in ResearchKit studies -- how? It hasn't been released yet.
Is anyone on the board participating in a study? Would you please take us through the particulars of participating without going into personal data or health.
If anyone comes across such details please post. Thanks.
Inquiring minds want to know.

Like Cramer, I expect ResearchKit and HealthKit to be game changers and firmly embed Apple in the medical industry.

The first apps are in the App Store now. I presume the signup is done within the apps. Go get one and check it out!

If Citi's chart is a sample of what the Fed sees, doesn't that make it more likely Yellen will utter WS-friendly words?

It wasn't stated very clearly but it sounded to me like the Apple Stores get the aluminum and stainless watches displayed within the parson's tables while the gold pieces go the high end jeweler route. Yes, I agree that was what was shown during the event. I still have more questions, such as: Will there be specially trained staff? I assume that in order to really evaluate it, it will need to be authorized by/for an iPhone; it sounds like it needs to be on your wrist in order to do that. I guess they made the app mandatory to ensure every potential buyer already has it loaded, provided your iPhone has been upgraded to iOS 8.2. It has already been reported that they installed safes at some stores for storing (Edition only?) watches overnight. Clearly this will not be in every store. I am wondering whether there will be special staff and/or a separate room for trying those. Suppose you are interested in an Edition, how do you find out the nearest store where it is available, via the Apple web site? I really expected Angela to make an appearance at the event, even if only to clarify the "high end jeweler" buying process somewhat. It will be interesting to see what tack they take to get the info to potential Edition buyers. Will they just put it out there, or will it be given only to people who somehow demonstrate a legitimate interest in buying one. I don't think that they are going to let every random visitor to the Apple Store try one on.

artman1033, not sure I agree with the message of that video, but I did laugh a lot, that was hilarious.

Picked up the new MacBook Pro. The new trackpad is uncanny. There is no way you can tell it is not actually moving, either with a an ordinary click or the force click. Impressive.

It actually DOES move. Some. What I don't know from my Apple Store visit is if it mechanically clicks at all. It's a great trackpad for the most part.

Maybe it flexes a bit, but not enough to give that clicking sensation. I am going to turn it off and see what happens. I expect almost nothing when it is pushed in. Just like pushing on glass.

It looks like Adolf agrees with me! All or just certain views? The choice of USB-C confuses me, why not thunderbolt or lightning, are they very similar? Not sure what is the purpose of having so many connectors and connectivity standards, thought the idea is reduce complexity. Netbooks? Thought the vision is NC. MacBook and iPad looking more and more alike. Is this new MacBook, the rumored iPad Pro?

Let me know. When it's on and Force Touch is unchecked you can't tell. Either way it's great for basic clicks. And by move, it really does depress like a trackpad. Just not THAT that much. 12" MacBook will be interesting.

It does not look like an average AAPL loonian will be able to try on a GOLD WATCH and send a selfie to friends. Thanks, artman, the article at least supports some of my conjectures about what the issues are and that it will be Angela's job to solve them. WATCH definitely presents a new set of retail issues for Apple. On the pundit front, Apple already gets attacked for targeting the high end of the market; the Edition will only exacerbate that, such as the recent "douchebag detector" headline.
