Once again we find AAPL range bound at levels most of us think are absurd. The underlying news remains solid - the iPhones are selling well by any true metric and remain difficult to simply acquire on a whim, Macs are selling relatively better than PC's, Apple Pay is coming to Starbucks, Target and more, Apple Music IS a revenue source despite its problems. And on it goes.
One bright note. Apple closed at 112.12 and in some cultures the number 12 is a lucky number, portending great things, so in the immortal words of Bill Murray in Caddyshack: "we got that going for us".

www.brit.co/apple-wireless-charging/Apple’s Latest Patent Will Change the iPhone As We Know It Kimberly Wang BY KIMBERLY WANG ON OCTOBER 11, 2015 Foldable screens and updated cameras are very exciting and all, but the latest iPhone 7 rumor is here, and it might just make your day. A patent application by Apple called “Inductive Power Transfer Using Acoustic or Haptic Devices” was published by the U.S. Trademark and Patent Office last Thursday. YAAAAS. Inductive charging, or wireless charging, is when an electromagnetic field is used to charge a device — which does away with all those annoying wires and plugs and stuff. more..... You hear that? Water. Yup. There’s previously been speculation that the iPhone 7 might be waterproof. If this inductive charging patent is applied to the iPhone 7, it could seal up that open charge port that makes the phone vulnerable to water.

I wouldn't be at all surprised if Apple someday eliminated *ALL* connectors to their phones. Imagine the beauty that could be imbued in something so monolithic. Heck, they will probably eliminate all external controls someday.

Here is a supposed "State of Apple Pay" article, which is quite pessimistic. The problem is that the bulwark of the argument is contained in this sentence: ----- The interchange fee has become a sticking point in negotiations between Apple and international banks because outside the US the interchange fee is much lower. In the European Union, interchange fees have been capped at 0.2% of the transaction value for debit cards and 0.3% for credit cards; at those levels, Apple's 0.15% cut is clearly untenable. ------ The only trouble is that 0.15% is half of 0.3% and 3/4 of 0.2% ! I am assuming that perhaps a decimal point is out of place somewhere, but an inability to process basic arithmetic information certainly undercuts the force of the argument. Either that or FUDsters just don't really care if their arguments make sense or not.
