Thank goodness Red October is over - Onwards and upwards for a green November!
Election just one week away - how will AAPL and the market react over the next week?

There's a typical Theresa Poletti troll piece on MarketWatch, asking if Apple is unravelling after Jobs. The first person quoted in it is an associate law professor from Santa Clara University - what qualifications does he have to comment on how a business is being run? It's ridiculous.

Up a couple of bucks in pre-market. For the savvy, the Cirrus Logic earnings, and more importantly, outlook, could help us today. Massive beat, big guidance jump, 70% of their product goes to Apple. Connect the dots......

So what is going on with CRUS this morning? Let's see.. They had a great quarter, guided higher, got upgrades.. You'd expect a big pop. They're tied to Apple.. That's probably why they're down 15% Insane

One thing that should be noted in the Cirrus report are their margins, +50%. It does not look like Apple is squeezing them to me.

I see a parallel here between MS and RIM. It seem that MS is right where RIM was a 2 or 3 years ago, dominant market share, heavy enterprise use driven by legacy adoption, new products being released, seen as a way of slowing Apple down.
Based on the early feedback from the Win8/Surface offering, the outcome could be similar. MS may wither down slower than RIM did, but doesn't the Surface come across like the Blackberry Bold did, too little too late?

OK CNBC flash Consumer confidence at 4 year high. Construction spending expands in Sept & Manufacturing continues rebound. Sounds like a recipe for a good fourth qtr.

While I'd like it's OS marketshare to go down, I do like office even if I don't like the recent versions. What I don't like is that they have both office and the primary OS, and thus while they might get in trouble if they stopped developing office for the Mac if the Mac marketshare continued to peck away at them, they could instead just stop adding new features, and basically do the same thing. OTOH, they are big enough that they could morph into different markets if their OS marketshare continues to shrink. I'm a bit surprised RIMM has continued to kick around after so many years. Given that, even if MS didn't figure out how to morph over that timeframe, they'll still be around a long time.

Speaking of RIM - how the hell did it jump almost 10% today on the news that its software is now being tested - that's the reward for being on time...eventually? And yes, I am short RIM!

Wake me up when AAPL wakes up.
In the meantime, theta decay/IV deflation sucks. At least iPad mini's out tomorrow. I'd like to try one out at the local Apple Store.

Also received confirmation of my mini delivery for tomorrow. Bought some CRUS at just below $35 earlier. This pounding just doesn't seem warranted.

I bought some CRUS too at just below $35. I don't really know what I'm doing, but huge drops like are often buying opportunities when after a good earnings report. Hopefully.

Now there's a sure sign to BUY! A few weeks ago, I heard him tell someone to buy and hold ... at 680-700.

The kid is back in the saddle. We just got our power back from 8:00 PM on Monday, and we were doing Snoopy dances in the street. You really appreciate the little things after an event like Sandy.
The Jersey shore is wiped out pretty good. Without power, we couldn't follow coverage of the devastation on TV, but we were able to get pictures via our cellphones. I live a couple of doors over from a First Aid station, and they were serving as a comfort station, where you could get a charge (besides driving around to charge the phones), and where you also had a chance to meet up your neighbors. It was actually nice to have a sense of community again. When the JCP&L workers restored power, I went up to them an thanked them personally, which I thought they appreciated.
But according to the pictures I saw, a number of the beach clubs were wiped away, and the building structures washed out to sea. Once we get through search and rescue, removal of sand from the streets, and demolition of structures too damaged to restore, there will be lots of work for construction workers and building trades - carpenters, plumbers, electricians, drywall, painters, etc - so we might enjoy a little mini "stimulus" on the Jersey shore, funded by the insurance companies and FEMA.
Good to be back, but I was following AAPL on my phone, and following the FUD as well. Can't wait for a change in trend.
Has Phoebebear or Terps checked in yet?

Maybe Im crazy but to me apple seems like a screaming buy here. Friday under 604 will mark the 6th down week in a row. Unbelievable. I think this is the worst drop since 2008. Im hanging in there but it is very frustrating.
I do miss the old days of apple when it would actually not struggle to hold a dollar in gains while the rest of the market rallies.
Edit: second day in a row close under 600.00
I do think we are near bottom *crosses fingers* I have no TA to back that up
