I've been reflecting on the Board.
While participation often varies widely, it seems to be dropping off on a more sustained basis.
It is what we make it. If you feel something is lacking, feel free to add it. Want to see more technicals? Post them. We all benefit and learn and grow.
It is a community. Like any community we quarrel and have disagreements, but we still have much in common. I miss those who have moved on. I enjoy being challenged with perspectives, insights, even the snarky comments that I hadn't considered.
When Phoebe encountered some distractions I stepped up. Never intended this to be a full time gig but did not want to see the Board fall by the wayside. Responded by posting the interesting things I come across in my morning browsing. The baton is waiting whenever anyone is interested in picking it up...

The drop in posting doesn't bother me at all. Sure it is nice when posting increases but everyone posting moderates themselves unbelievably well. I know everyone appreciates your early morning posts.

I love this board. Other places are stuffy and have no life. I have no interest in them. I check this board often and read every post.
I would be hurt to see it fail.
Don't know how to say thank you enough to Since84 for keeping it going. I too bought AAPL around that time (late 80's). I discovered this board when Robert was here, and AAPL went from just some investment to a place to enjoy the saga.

The baton is waiting whenever anyone is interested in picking it up... I miss many of the members who've left our little club, like Mercel, Red Shirted Ensign, Gregg, Roni, LoveMyiPad, etc, but this board still has value for me - in a big way. (Participation over on the Braeburn board is also a lot lower btw.) Maybe Apple investor fatigue is showing - I don't know. Still, I feel it's kind of a cop-out for Volvocoupe, whose posts I always appreciate very much, to come here out of the blue and make a disparaging comment - esp after quitting himself - after he let the naysayers bum him out... Volvocoupe, please come back and help Make This Board Great Again... Actually, I think the board is still excellent even if there are fewer posts. Each of us has only so much time to give, but as a group I think we still muster critical mass. Also now that AAPL is so near its ATH, there should be greater enthusiasm - or at least less to be bummed about... Cheers to the longs here! And go, Apple, go.

I too appreciate your efforts Since84. I do long for the old days of high participation though. Used to have 9-10 pages of posts per day in the intraday thread. Three is a stretch now even on earnings day. Some outright insults to past members drove them away and I don't blame most of them for leaving. Things got ugly real fast sometimes in the past. Disagreements are fine but when it degrades to name-calling and insults, people leave. No one needs that. I'm a fundamentals investor and not a technical trader so I have very little to contribute other than an occasional article link. I do value other opinions though. So long as this insults are kept in check. Hope the board continues. Peace. Edit: BTW, we're up a buck and a half.

I think investing is as much about psychology as it is about business and finance. This board provides perspectives that help me maintain emotional stability. I would not have stayed in Apple this long without the support that the board provides, and because of that, I am much better off financially. So thank you.
The naysayers do get tedious. Whether they are just negative people, or trolls who delight in killing a board is hard to determine. I just use the ignore feature and poof, problem solved. This is a journey and i am delighted to share it with you.

OK... It opened at $134.46 and hit a high of $134.54 on 4/28/15... and promptly dropped.
Nice to see us up again today. Wondering how far this can go.

It was after ER. And then began the decline. Btw, Since84, your post is the first page I check every morning. Can't thank you enough for keeping the board alive with your morning efforts day after day.

I also thank you and check almost every day. By the way no pictures of transportation devices If you know what I mean. Cant jinx things. participation is down because the stock had been struggling and there is a lot of other news right now competing for our attention. I don't think it would jinx things to suggest a new price target for a summer vegas aapl. party.

Guys. It pains me to do this given my love of apple but I just entered a short position. Bought April 130 puts. Apple is really oversold and I expect a minor pullback. This is just a trade and will get back to the long side on a bigger pullback.

Some outright insults to past members drove them away and I don't blame most of them for leaving. Things got ugly real fast sometimes in the past. Disagreements are fine but when it degrades to name-calling and insults, people leave. No one needs that. Today happened to be a day that I dropped by to have a look. My main reason for leaving this board is that I have a multi-year strategy to sell the stock after a great run. Fortunately for me, I have sold under 10% so far. I did want to comment on this post though, as it is another reason I left. I got into the dungeon at some point before I left. Big mistake. The stuff I read in there (and sometimes in the daily threads) pretty much turned me off this place forever. Even if I was not selling, my choice would be not to associate with people (even virtually) that let their political views treat other members of this community the way they do there. There were certainly other things that bothered me, but this one was the most significant. When posters can be so extreme and objectionable, I have no interest in their opinions or perspective on any subject. Including Apple. Too bad, as I used to enjoy being here. Good luck to the longs. Nice to see $130+ again.

Yes, you would have thought that interest in the board would have ramped up in the last month. I think of this place as an index - everything here has some meaning and helps give me a sense of broader sentiment. So what does it mean that there aren't many posts at the moment.
I do miss some of the posters from old... tommo, burgess, wheels, mbeauch, iPad, et al....

I got back 25% right before earnings ... bought 10 mins before the close that day. Was about to go 100% aapl but decided I had enough risk with the our other accounts which are still 100% AAPL. So far between those two ... it's been a pretty good month : )

This is just a trade and will get back to the long side on a bigger pullback. I've taken the opposite trade. MACD, CCI, MAs all look good. It has broken a local high and headed for all time highs. I'll be dubious if it double tops. I bought another pile of calls yesterday. I trimmed som today and sold the small runner I held through earnings. Bets of luck to you, but I put my bets long.

Right, just wanted to reassure him that no apology ("it pains me to do this") was necessary. Sorry if I over-thought things.
