Aapl is second on the list for selling on strength. Would love a quick 3 point drop by Friday. Might not happen. This rise is in eager anticipation of favorable (read "phenomenal") tax reforms that might include the much-awaited repatriation break.

This rise is in eager anticipation of favorable (read "phenomenal") tax reforms that might include the much-awaited repatriation break. Like I said. I expect it to go to 140. The move has more to do with earnings. The tax repatriation and corporate tax reform will move this stock past $1 trillion. MS has the 190 target. But since it is dependant upon a deal in congress, it keeps the whole issue in limbo. Don't see it resolved for at least 10 months minimum.

If you're right about the direction you make a lot more buying puts than selling calls. Depend on IV, strike price, date and magnitude of decline expected. In general, for high IV, better to short naked calls. Long puts for low IV. IV of Apr calls is fairly low so long naked puts is more appropriate than shorting naked calls.

In reference to this I'd just like to point out that trying to minimize the spread of fake news is not at all analogous to censorship. We're talking about false, bogus, made-up stories masquerading as real journalism - unfortunately fooling real people, even sometimes people who should certainly know better. I think any reasonable person would agree that this is a problem. Apple should be applauded for being involved in the effort to eradicate this scourge. I too applaud Apple's stand for integrity and honesty. There is no justification for demagoguery and it should be exposed and ridiculed where ever and by whom ever. Agree that censorship is problematic, however in the bounds of society there are bounds and norms that we subscribe to in order to maintain a veneer of civility. Tolerating fake news (this is just a polite expression for utter bullshit) erodes any legitimacy that we purport to have. Apple's ethics are part of their DNA and this is a strong reason for why I am long APPL.

Happy all-time high! We definitely need tomorrow to distance ourselves from the call wall at 135. As for this silly fake news obsession, it's an invented crisis, mostly by the losing side of the election to delegitimize the current President. Journalistic standards have fallen all around, but there is absolutely ZERO evidence this so-called "fake news" had any influence over the election. In fact, Stanford and NYU did studies that it had no effect: Researchers: Fake News Did Not Alter Election ResultsAgain, Tim Cook, the guy afraid of government having a back door through encryption, wants Donald Trump appointing Steve Bannon as Minister of Approved NewsSpeak? Just dumb. Sorry for the political post, but I was just responding to others, including our misguided CEO.

We are $7.85 away from $1,000/share. Split adjusted. Or longer term $7.85 away from $3780/share, yikes.

Neil Cybart tweet:
"Warren Buffett's Berkshire Hathaway increased its Apple stake by 278% last quarter. Now a $7.7B stake. A very aggressive move."

JD, despite our different views, I really like it when you post here. You're generally funny, entertaining and articulate. I'm not convinced your (I'm not a local) president has the answers, but if he does then I humbly stand corrected. In fact I sincerely hope he does have the answers but nothing to date give me any confidence.
I'm happy to spar if you are. I think you've got pretty thick skin! ;-P

Our great President is doing just fine. The fake leftist media is whipping up hysterics and some fall hook line and sinker for the bait.
Cheers to the longs
