Pre-trading strength maybe attributable to Morgan Stanley raising their PT from $150 to $154
Morgan Stanley analyst Katy Huberty and a team at the firm predict that the introduction of a high-end iPhone with an AMOLED display and other premium features in September 2017 is likely to drive accelerating upgrades and share gains, especially in China. Following an analysis of aged iPhones, loyalty rates, and purchase intention share for different smartphone brands in China, they now see a base case of 72M iPhones shipped in China during FY18 and raise the firm's FY18 iPhone estimate to 260M units, versus consensus at 241M units. Huberty, who raised her price target on Apple to $154 from $150, thinks consensus estimates and share price will rise over the next six months to reflect bullish supply chain data and the China opportunity.

Why do I think that Volkswagen and Samsung should merge?

To all fellow readers holding puts, are they thow-away (insurance, keep them until they expire) or trades (what is your stop?)

I view the puts as throw away, but attempt to roll the remaining value forward to a future period. At some point, if a correction doesn't come I do stop buying them.
Bear in mind the puts are an extremely small percentage of my portfolio. It justifies staying in the game (holding Apple) longer term, as such it is more of a 'mental health' trade. If the gains on the Puts are enough to BTFD for more than I could have without buying the Puts, I consider the trade a success.

When I was 90+% invested in AAPL, just holding shares long gets rather boring. With the overwhelming urge to "do something" in times of turmoil, I would buy/sell some options. Nothing major. Just a few percentage points of the overall portfolio. Just gave me something to do while holding shares long. While I still hold a few Jan18 AAPL LEAPs, I avoid options completely now. Too much risk for me at this stage in my investing life.

This morning I received in my inbox from PED: Apple rips 14 holes in the EC's $14 billion Irish tax edict This may be helping a bit today. Such a waste of AAPL's time and resources but I guess they have to fight this because the EC is looking for cash anywhere they can.

I must repent for evil thoughts this morning. I was close to putting in a sell order for all my AAPL shares for $136.40.
I feel unclean and dirty.

Nice ATCH. $956.90. I know some of you don't like multiplying by 7, but you don't know how many times I've told family, friends, my accountant, my Charles Schwab guy, "Apple is a $1000 stock." My iPhone 6's battery is dying, so I'm buying a 7+ today. My first foray into the larger form factor. The eyes aren't what they used to be.

I was always against phablets, but after I got over not being able to "one-hand" everything, it is quite nice. The non-plus my wife has just feels small now.

Who was it that first sprooked AAPL to hit $1000? Was it that Zac guy, was it Greg Thurman? Was the projection for 2014 or was it 2017? I can't remember but it would be interesting to see how far off our(AFB) arm chair analysis was.

What's this talk about a paltry $1000 stock. AAPL may soon reach $4000/share. $136.7 X 2 X 2 X 7 = $3827.60 ALL TIME HIGH. One can dream can't one. edit: Page 2 woohoo

Sold the last of my Mar 125 Calls, moved into Mar 130s (bigger position) after we broke above the highs on the flag. I may be pushing my luck, but this uptrend has been relentless. I don't disagree that we are due for correction, I think I will wait for the actual movement below the trend rather than trying to time a top. Might not be the smartest move, but it is how I am playing it. Also bought some Broadcom Calls as it broke above it's flag today as well.

And $2000. And yeah, I've been long since '93 so it's actually coming up on $4000 (7*2*2).

While I still hold a few Jan18 AAPL LEAPs, I avoid options completely now. Too much risk for me at this stage in my investing life. The thing that I like about options is that you can tailor your level of risk by using various combinations. For example, simple spreads can be tailored to almost any level of expected return (and thus expected risk).
