What kills me about the downgrade is he is saying to put your proceeds into Google....sure....because that multiple looks great in comparison!

What kills me about the downgrade is he is saying to put your proceeds into Google....sure....because that multiple looks great in comparison! To be fair, Google has been showing strong and steady growth for a long time. Apple is all over the place. Google definitely deserves a higher multiple than Apple does. How much higher is debateable.

Impressive update to WatchOS. They are leagues ahead in the smart watch space and the gap just grew.

The introductory price of the homePod speaker at $349 seems quite high to create a "can't-wait-for-this" kinda excitement. Hope it really delivers on high sound quality and voice recognition.
Looking back to 2006, Apple had launched the iPod HiFi speaker at the same price. It was discontinued 18 months later.

Is it me or does this Homepod look familiar? Where's the creativity?

Is it me or does this Homepod look familiar? Where's the creativity? Form follows function? Personally I think it looks good.

Trying to see how the products and upgrades were received and from my perspective: On Twitter - and am getting headlines like this: Apple Unveils "HomePod" Speaker, Years After Amazon And Google Let's see what the analysts say to their clients tomorrow but I'm not seeing huge amounts of folks being very impressed and lots of commentary about a "me too" product (this is specific to the speaker).
In the meantime - it looks like Tim Cook is going to be interviewed at 5:30 on Bloomberg if anyone is interested.

Is it me or does this Homepod look familiar? Where's the creativity? First thing I thought of as well when I saw it. It has a chance if the audio quality is passable. I'll buy one if that's the case. Most sound like junk.

Most sound like junk. Some feedback on the sound from the FT reporter at WWDC: "...this is a high-fidelity sound system that should have the likes of Bang & Olufson and Bose just as worried as Amazon, Google and Sonos." blogs.ft.com/the-world/liveblogs/2017-06-05/?ft_site=falcon&desktop=true#d1c44adfc6033ee1575ec845ad89aadbin the same blog, check out the photo of Jony Ive checking out the HomePod. It's almost as if he hadn't seen it before. Benedict Evans: "Apple Homepod is going squarely after premium audio. Much better sound than you'd expect for the size & quite different to the voice boxes"

... The original approved high end speakers I still have the second version of these since 8 or ten years now and use them often.

December release is a bummer. Hopefully no delay and not overly supply constrained.

I thought that was a great WWDC keynote with WAY more than the usual software updates being announced. We got new iMacs, new iPads, and the HomePod, in addition to the software side which is almost too much to digest in one sitting. iOS11 looks like a beast, as does ARKit, Apple Pay on IMessage is simply brilliant (Now the rumors of iMessage on Android make more sense), and on and on it goes...
I don't get the lukewarm reactions to HomePod on this board. Phil took pains to explain this is a hybrid product bringing the best of voice assistants and high-fidelity wireless audio. Honestly it looks like a real winner at $349 if it sounds half as good as they claim. Amazon and Google have voice assistants that sound like tinny boxes, and Sonos has wireless speakers that sound great but do nothing else. If you combine both with a bit of Apple magic I think you've got a pretty good thing going. Not to mention privacy as a key component. I'm ready to order on day one.

I'm reading on a twitter that people who were present at WWDC were later told that we all just got a very brief sneak peek at the speakers but that that is not all they can do. Interesting.

I liked the keynote personally. I also think Craig Federighi is a marvelous presenter. Obviously their "A" player and deservedly so.
