AAPL hanging tough in the face of a solidly red market early. Neil Cybart provides much fuel for staying confident in the face of FUDsters and political upheaval with Apple Has the Best Business Model for Generating Cash. WARNING: This is a VERY long article, but I think you will find it worthwhile to hang in there. Obviously many of our fellow AFB'ers have started the weekend early in order grab all they can from one of the last weekends of the summer. Again I say, party on Garth!

Thanks for opening the thread !!!!
Reading about the upcoming Apple Watch , I still have my 1st generation as I didn't see enough improvement to warrant buying the 2nd generation, that could change if the new one will actually connect without the phone . Personally I would use it when riding my bicycle and swimming as well ... I don't like having my phone around in either situation but I like to stay connected. I think having this ability will greatly improve the experience as well as open new doors for developers, trying to figure out how the carriers will charge for this benefit ? Maybe a $10 per month extra charge ....
Great to see some green in this turbulent market ...
Cheers to the longs.

For the first time since December, I transferred some cash to buy more this morning. All in and enjoying the rides to 170 this quarter.

On the "no one posts here anymore", I put this on Luckychoices Fundamentals thread the other day. aaplfinance.proboards.com/post/96557/thread (5-12 years ago I was spending 40-60 hours a week reading investment articles and posts like this. I found, especially as I decided I was happy with long term buy and hold, that that was pointless. I now spend much less time following things, which gives me much more time for other things. But that means I walked away from TMF, a small yahoo board dissolved, and I barely post here. OTOH, I do enjoy coming here when something is happening with the stock, whether a sudden move, or just earnings/WWDC/etc. Thanks for helping keep it interesting) The other reasoning is that now days, with Apple's size, it takes more to move the needle. That means that small things matter less, creating less need to talk or speculate about every little thing. Likewise, in general we know more of what to expect from Apple and sometimes even AAPL. No need to speculate on when a new iPhone is going to be announced, once they have a pretty good trend. That said, we're ready for some new computers too. Our current ones have been doing fine, even though they are completely outdated and no longer run the very latest and greatest. But then even the kids computers, which are now 11 years old, still run just about anything that they try. But I guess with that dividend now in our account, we can spring for a new setup or two....though I might give building my own system via www.tonymacx86.com a try.

I swung through the Apple store in Valencia, CA this week, because TSA knocked the top off my Apple Pencil when they re-ran my backpack. Idiots. The Apple Store guys wanted to see the serial number on the pencil (long story, I eventually made them happy because I don't carry it around town with me) and they handed me a replacement for free. "Normally these cost $10."
In the Apple Store I was surprised to discover the iPod Nano and iPod Shuffle are gone. As in, discontinued? Walmart had them. So if you're in the mood for perhaps the final generation of non-internet iPods get 'em now. One store guy replied to my comment about 'not a lot of new stuff' with "not yet." Hmmm.
Looking ahead, I'm excited about HomePod, iMac Pro, and perhaps the iPad Mini with pencil support. It would be great to get a black Apple Pencil, and AirPods headphones need both color and in-ear versions that seal up well to block outside sounds. The current AirPods are great but in loud environments (airplane, mowing lawn, vacuuming carpet) they just don't cut it. The W1 chip does an amazing job maintaining bluetooth connection and eliminating drop-outs. Just need to bring the tech to better in-ear headsets.
Apple once used their product launches to demonstrate cool things you could do with the hardware. Roger Rozner was a regular favorite showing off some cool apps. Years have passed and stagnation with Pages, Numbers, Keynote, iBooks Author, and the list goes on. Yes, Apple has been focused on keeping iterations going and moving into the new spaceship campus. Time to get back in the air, Cupertino.
