I'm not sure how many AFBer's follow the currency markets, but I just saw this morning that the Euro hit another 52-week high vs. the USD. EUR/USD is now trading over 1.20. Of course that is good news for AAPL and other companies who do a lot of business overseas. In fact, this entire quarter has had a favorable exchange rate with the EURO than the year ago quarter. Excluding any effect of currency hedges that Apple may have had this quarter, we should see a positive earnings boost from European markets and other international markets as well due to the weakening dollar.

Good point .... I don't normally watch but start getting interested when we have a European trip planned ... it was around $1.06 fairly recently so that's a pretty big jump! Good for Apple like you said but will make my morning espresso in Florence much more expensive !! Feel bad even writing that when you consider what many people in this country are going through right now. Cheers to the longs.

Tomorrow being August 24 means Tim Cook will vest his annual performance-based stock bonus based on Total Shareholder Return (TSR) for the last three years since 8/25/14. He has earned 100% of it, because TSR puts it well within the top third of S&P 500 companies for that time period. He has earned this award every year since the first one in 2014, and it continues through 2021. Let's see if he earns 100% every year through 2021. Good luck, Tim and all the longs! Here is the SEC filing on the Apple investor site and the SEC site, released yesterday evening: investor.apple.com/secfiling.cfm?filingID=320193-17-21&CIK=320193www.sec.gov/Archives/edgar/data/320193/000032019317000021/xslF345X03/wf-form4_150396481887759.xmlIn 2013, when Apple set up this performance-based bonus system for Tim Cook, AAPL was in the midst of a deep drop from its 2012 highs. As a consequence of the timing of the change to his bonus, every annual performance-based bonus from 2014 through 2016 was based on the same starting point at that extreme 2013 low. So in 2014 it was a 1 year performance period, in 2015 it was a 2 year period, and in 2016 it was the first 3 year period. Going forward it's a rolling 3 year period. So 2017 is the first time that Cook's performance-based bonus is based on a starting point that is not a deep, historic low. In that respect, despite being his fourth annual performance-based bonus, in a sense it is only the first, the first not buoyed by an extremely easy comparison. Hopefully it will be followed by annual repeats through 2021 and market-beating returns in the years beyond Cook's first 10 years and beyond his tenure as CEO.

The most interesting part to me is that he eats egg-white omelets and turkey bacon. As a shareholder, the CEO's long-term health is a concern, especially given Apple's history with Steve Jobs. But unless Tim Cook has a health condition that restricts his diet, I'd rather see him eating the egg yolks. I mean it's the whole point of an egg, and the old fears about dietary cholesterol were misguided. At least he ate the regular bacon since they didn't happen to have turkey.

Hearing that people are expecting an earlier launch right around the announcement date of Sept 12th - Color me skeptical...

Hearing that people are expecting an earlier launch right around the announcement date of Sept 12th - Color me skeptical... Agreed ... I believe we will have the announcement on the 12th but I would anticipate launch would be a few weeks after that.
