Anticipation....with intent and expected outcome.
That's where things are at right now, in selling the AAPL story. We know it's coming. And we know it's going to sell well. Exactly what it will be, and how well it will sell, aren't really on the mind too much yet.
There's quite a few analogies one could use. Keeping it family friendly, Christmas is the easy one to go with.
We're on tap to buy a couple new iPhones. We probably should have bought last year, but didn't end up finding a plan to switch to, and were ok with what we had. But they are getting older, battery life is dropping, and I had a lot of shut-offs due to the cold this winter that are said to happen more with an older battery. Still, the wild card is what plan, and what carrier. We don't need a boat load of data. I was considering Virgin Mobile, who's deal basically gets you a new phone through the lower cost of the plan. But looking at the maps, they (and Sprint, who they are part of) have slower data. It's still tempting, but I'll have to look again. If it really is just slower data, and everything else is similar, then that can work for us.
The question is, how many other people are in this boat. They want a new phone, but are still in the air about a plan. That was Steve's plan ages ago, that by trimming the product line of all that fluff (many models had Performa, Centris, and Quadra lines that overlapped and sometimes were nearly exactly equivalent), the buying choice was easier. With the iPod, the difference was just more storage, at $50 levels. There's been talk about it a couple years ago, but if Apple really wanted to grab more money from the cell phone market, having their own "carrier" would do that both by direct profits, but also making the choice that much easier.
But right now, Christmas is coming. It's going to be good! I'm looking forward to it! And so are others, with potential profit coming....and so the stock is going to continue to inch up in anticipation!

Wednesday, September 12 at 10:00 a.m. PST at Apple Park I plan to be there for the shareholder meeting next time. Frankly, I'm more interested in seeing the new campus than the new products, and I'm pretty excited about the new products on September 12. I think that's a Tuesday, not a Wednesday.

Does anyone on the board have contacts at Apple, particularly Investor relations? We should meet at and attend the Annual meeting. Perhaps Apple would give us a tour. Many here have been long time holders of significant Apple positions.

Well I could just email my buddy Tim again ! Seriously , I'd be in if it could be arranged! Cheers to the longs I don't know the people in Investor Relations, but maybe 12 years ago or so, when people asked for a tour of the campus, Steve started off by saying that was tough since it's an R&D campus, but then made it happen. That was while I was working there, and I think I was showing another friend around after the meeting. That might have been when a few bosses questioned me, since Blue was wearing a suit. It's all good. I bet if we talked to Investor Relations beforehand, it could happen. Whether it's a completely public tour, or a prescreened 10 person tour. But I think a lot of people will have the same mindset, of wanting to see what "OUR" billions has built.

ANNUAL MEETING Survey
Who is planning to attend the coming annual meeting in Cupertino -- Tuesday, February 27, 2018?
Would you be interested in meeting and sitting as a group?
Would you be interested in touring the Apple Campus as part of the group?
Please indicate any other group activities we should consider doing.
Please PM me. I'd like the level of interest before pursuing this with Investor Relations.
***
NOTE to any Apple personnel reading this -- please PM me if you have suggestions for making this happen.

I quite like seeing atman's bold text. It portends good things. And we still have a very reasonable PE.... 18.6ish.

Hmmmmmm.
If I was so upset , I'd consider selling my stock and investing in a company whose culture and ideals I agreed with.

Hmmmmmm. If I was so upset , I'd consider selling my stock and investing in a company whose culture and ideals I agreed with. So predictable and trite. Except I was an Apple stockholder decades before anyone ever heard of Tim Cook. And now I have seven figures of capital gains I can't realize or I'd get killed in taxes. So how about Cook just upholds his duty as an inside director of a publicly held corporation to all stockholders, or go run a non profit.
