Great article from the Motley Fool. Is Apple really Day 2? The article's point is well taken.

Great article from the Motley Fool. Is Apple really Day 2? The article's point is well taken. I have to disagree somewhat. "An over reliance on growth through services." While Amazon has more recently done some product development, wasn't the company built almost entirely on services?
"A lack of high-velocity decision-making" Apple has always taken the time to ensure that what they bring to market is high quality. Now, I am not saying that every product has been perfect or even a success, but the approach has produced some of the most admired products in the industry.
"Creeping incrementalism" Saying that the Apple Watch "hasn't really moved the needle" ignores the fact that it has blown away the personal fitness device industry and that "moving the needle" for the largest company in the world is no trivial task.

I would go one step further and disagree with most of the article. Tim Cook is running Apple differently from SJ (as he should be, but still in an Apple-like way), an over reliance on services growth (baloney: one sector is showing good growth when all sectors should be growing? Duh. iPad and Watch and iPhone X are or will be showing growth too), lack of high velocity decision making (yeh, why didn’t Apple buy Motorola or Palm? ), creeping incrementalism (why aren’t they releasing a brand new whiz bang this year?!) are all no more than jabs at the world’s most valuable company. Just cause you can look at Apple through the lens of this Bezos” quote doesn’t make it necessarily applicable or true. 🙄

It's fun to look at options prices a bit, and dream. With an all time high to currently intraday low move down of 8%, or nearly 12.25 points, now could be a decent time to buy spreads. I'd expect with this move that volatility premiums are likely a little high, so straight calls might not be the best, though writing some straight puts could do ok, as long as you don't overextend.
I was looking at the Jan 2020 and 2019 leaps. Basically, you can get 125-175 spreads in either for at or just less than $25. Or 150-175's for around $10. Or if more bullish, 150-200 for $15
Sometimes it's tempting to go big with some of those. "Put it all on black". But for now it's a wait and see, as to if investors have gotten this out of their system yet. An 8% drop is a decent retracement. But if enough are in a funk, it can still go lower, and if it gets below 10% off, that could cause it to drop more. All potentially with no real good fundamental reason, which can be frustrating.
First snow of the season is falling here. Time to pick those tomatoes.

Google just bought HTC for $1 billion which should tip off a whole new round of FUD regarding Apple's failure to innovate and all the competition they face. If it catches hold, FUD like that could last for months.

LOL, from the article's author comments: "Anyone who regards a South Korean dishwasher maker’s latest iPhone knockoff as “the best phone ever” is a painfully myopic moron."

On the Motley Fool article, re the Home Pod. I assume Apple's big plus over Alexa and others is the quality sound, and perhaps a more sophisticated Siri. So my thinking is that is good. Am I correct here?

Am I correct here? I have no doubt it's going to be a far superior audio device, but price might be a sticking point. Apple is late to the game here, and the Echo is popular and has established a very low price point. I also have zero confidence that Siri will be appreciably better than Alexa or Google Assistant. It's been a complete letdown for years.
