Interesting link above: BGR via The Loop has One simple photo shows why Apple’s iPhone X is so exciting.
Could indeed be big.

The damage from the 9% selloff is more extensive then I expected. With so many OI contracts in the 157.50-170 (over 250K) , it should have been clear back when we hit 150-155 that we would never recover fast enough.
What is interesting is that the stock is reacting the same way it did last Nov-Dec and then again in June. Quick 9% corrections followed by 4 weeks of nowhere caused by rumors and noise. Then the truth comes out at earnings we are off to the races again.
I don’t buy for one second the 8 is not selling well. Apple guidance which has been accurate within 1% told us they will be selling enough to justify a nice 10% revenue growth for Q4,
Now the question is where will we be on ER day. 160 seems about right at this point. I would like to see us make a run towards 163 next week however.

Especially this year, with the X being offset, Apple's quietness around earnings and the uncertainty when a new product is released and official sales figures aren't out yet...it gives plenty of space for people to tweak the emotions and move the stock. Especially when there is a good reason, like quarterlies expiring. It's a learning experience, even when everything lines up in retrospect.

iPhone 8 sales are anemic is mostly FUD but the other concern -- that iPhone X will be in "very" short supply for this quarter and the next -- is worrisome.
If Apple only has a few million in stock during pre-orders, they'll be gone in 60 seconds! Then what? Maybe they'll produce 10 million more for December. And the rest of the crowd has to simply wait it out this holiday season?!

Especially when there is a good reason, like quarterlies expiring. It's a learning experience, even when everything lines up in retrospect. With the stock price dipping in the last hour, I tried to nab a small spread position of Nov 3rd 155-160's for $2.25. I was too late (order not in until the last minute of the day), and missed it...but I probably should have went for 150-155 instead. I'm expecting a bump up on Monday, just like this Monday. OTOH, if there's a quick dip down, I'll try to be ready to buy this time. (no strikes with open interest over 21k until Nov monthlies....with 72k at the 160 call. Next week and the following both have 20-21k at 160 calls, but with 25k puts at 155 next week. Small, but if volume stays low, that could be a range)

The damage from the 9% selloff is more extensive then I expected. wth for Q4,. Okay this is completely off topic but I’m curious. Why do all of you North Americans (I’m over generalising for dramatic emphasis) use the word ‘THEN’ when you really mean ‘THAN’? Not having a go at you Spongy but these words have completely different meanings. THEN refers to temporal relationship and THAN refers to comparisons of things. Is it because there is a vowel shift in parts of North America where these two words ending up sounding so similar that they phonetically become the same? Just curious, not trying to be a condescending ass!

I am 65 and last had grammar in school 55 years ago, which is a lot more years than a 12 year old who is studying grammar in school today. 😄
