Getting close to earnings and the iPhone stories are starting to multiply .... sheesh how many time are we going to have to hear another analyst with little or no information try and predict sales from a supply chain that no one but Apple insiders are privy to ?
Cheers to the longs.
EDIT: My buddy and I are thinking about going up for the investors meeting on Feb 13th .... do we need to make a "reservation" ? I've never been .... anyone else going to make it ?

Yes... and tickets were 'sold out' in 5 minutes. Not sure whether Apple will set up some 'overflow' venues. They have in the past.

I’m certainly not enjoying this, but to carry on the discussion from the weekend thread, this is completely unsurprising to me. If today closes under the 50MA, we could be setting up for more downside. Earnings could be just the thing to take it down.

The Big Boys expect good news on Feb. 1 and are driving for their best possible entry point. But then, you and I are the yin and yang of AAPL futures.

I just know from past experience that the stock can sell off, even after reporting “good” numbers. It’s all about sentiment, justified or not, which can change in a hurry.

Another Katy mention. Apple has limited risk of a guidance miss, says Morgan Stanley Morgan Stanley analyst Katy Huberty said her analysis of upgrades from the aged iPhone installed base and market share gains point to iPhone shipments down slightly in the U.S., up slightly in Europe, and up strong double-digits in China during FY18. She agrees with the market view of a December quarter earnings beat, but differs from the consensus view that Apple's March quarter guidance will come in below consensus, Huberty tells investors. Her 64.5M unit March quarter iPhone shipment forecast is ahead of the consensus view of 61M, while she models a March quarter average selling price of $815, versus the consensus $752 ASP forecast. Huberty, who also expects constructive commentary on tax reform and gross margins from Apple, has lowered her March quarter forecasts and trimmed her price target on Apple to $200 from $205 but maintains an Overweight rating on the shares. Pathetic. Guess traders see opportunity in other names rather than wait holding a few days before ‘s late earnings.
Or..... stock trading clubs are complicit, sending out notifications of group sell action.

Opposite of a "Wheeee." It's a "ewwwww." Lousy past two days.
I think we're fine after earnings. We shall see. Good luck to all the longs.

Last week, Apple had more of a positive vibe going for it strengthened by the huge repatriation announcement. So I guess these big boys couldn't ( or chose not to) suddenly hammer it down although it was a major opEx week because it would be obvious and they would probably come under the radar. Hence, this week it is! Well, I bought 500 shares yesterday at 174. I'll buy 500 more along with some calls tomorrow or next week if the carnage continues.

Whereas Netflix has added 30% in the past couple of weeks. Just staggering.

Ugh. But Above Avalon's Neil Cybert has some interestingly high numbers over a ped30.com His $826./ASP (vs. most at about $726.) is a big part of his huge beat over guidance, giving a top line revenue boost of $8.2b.

I asked Apple Investor Relations and the response was "Only shareholders who have registered in advance and have a valid confirmation of registration will be admitted to the meeting." There is no indication that any 'overflow' venue(s) or other accommodations are planned. Sorry.

Well, I bought 500 shares yesterday at 174. I'll buy 500 more along with some calls tomorrow or next week if the carnage continues. Good for you, dreamRaj! One either has confidence that AAPL will continue to be an excellent investment or one does not. IMO, those who are not planing to sell any of their AAPL stock in the next few weeks can ignore these fluctuations that always seem to occur prior to earnings. I only hope that AAPL revisits these levels before dividends are paid in mid-February so our IRA AAPL dividends can be auto-reinvested at these lower share prices. As I look back on the years when my wife and I were buying shares of AAPL, I bought whenever we could afford to buy more shares without regard to whether the share price was increasing or decreasing. It may not have been the smartest way to do it because we may have ended up with more shares if we held off for a few weeks but we also may have ended up with *fewer* if the share price had gone higher.

Ok AAPL, we've got to talk.
Today was a great powder day, with 9" of fresh snow last night (FWIW, not much by last year's standards, but the best powder day so far this year. Like AAPL, it's all in perspective). The kids had a 2 hr delay, and so we all hit the slopes, with my son and I on our first lift at 8:42.
Then just when I was going to call it a day to get him to school on time, my wife offers to take him too, so I got another couple hours of skiing in.
And then she surprised me again with a wonderful sandwich she picked up, waiting for me when I got home.
But you? You're kinda the Debbie Downer of the bunch. I know these days have to happen sometime, and I'd rather them now than post-earnings. And there's always the silver lining, of giving a good point to buy in, with stock or options. But let's work this out a bit, maybe mixing in an up day or at least a flat day once in a while.
Thanks!
