Thanks for the morning posts, Since84. Always appreciated. Btw, in your first line, I know you meant $165.98 and not $166.97

This manipulation is so messed up but brilliant at the same time. The huge March quarter iPhone numbers (40 mln?) were made up by the analysts and now they're slashing those numbers that they pulled out of their asses. This could have very well been their plan all along.
This has taught me a lesson to trade AAPL's opEx of major Jan leaps and Q1 ERs with extreme caution especially because I trade a lot of short-term calls too.

AMZN is up 26% in a month, about $150B. Pretty incredible. Earnings tomorrow as well, along with GOOGL.

Come on AAPL, you can have a positive day. Use the power of the Super blue blood moon to pull on out of this a little bit.
I skinned up the mountain at 5am this morning to watch the moon. My old iPhone 5S did ok running Strava heading up, but then bonked at the top when I was taking pictures just below freezing. It died again after warming it up a bit, and then died just after I got home. When it came back alive, it's battery was at 65%. As I've said before, any throttling of speed would have been much preferred over it just turning off. We'll be buying new iPhones, but I'll be replacing the battery too, since I'm sure one of the kids will begin using an iPhone soon, even just as a glorified iPod.

This isn't a new idea, but soon, with repatriated cash by the metric ton and Google more actively getting back into the phone game, it might make more sense than ever. Bring the fight to Google, though it would cost Apple a few billion in lost revs due to losing Google's payments for default browser status on iOS. mac360.com/2018/02/why-apple-should-buy-a-search-engine/

Woo boy, AAPL GOOG and AMZN all reporting earnings at the same moment. That will be interesting.

As Bloomberg notes, both Qualcomm and Broadcom implied during their own respective earnings announcements that iPhone orders are slowing down more than normal for this time of year… Qualcomm said during its earnings release today that “orders from a large, thin modem customer” have decreased at a worse level than usual for this time of the year. While Qualcomm, which supplies modems for the iPhone, didn’t mention Apple by name, Bloomberg says “it was widely interpreted that the customer is Apple.” Furthermore, Broadcom made similar comments during its earnings release today. The company said that it expects “a greater-than-seasonal decline in wireless” components. This implies that a company is ordering less wireless components than it normally does at this time of the year, and some think that company is Apple: 9to5mac.com/2018/01/31/apple-suppliers-slowing-iphone-sales/?utm_source=feedburner&utm_medium=feed&utm_campaign=Feed%3A+9To5Mac-MacAllDay+%289+to+5+Mac+-+Apple+Intelligence%29Edit: Maybe Apple forecast overly high (Y.O.Y.) for Q1, so the level of decrease is amplified, relatively. Qualcomm's may be attributable to shift to Intel, but not Broadcom's.

Woo boy, AAPL GOOG and AMZN all reporting earnings at the same moment. That will be interesting. As I recall, was the 1st to announce. I have personally HATED AMZN since they were at $400.00. SHOWS what I know! I think AMZN is A HOUSE OF CARDS. THEY MAKE their money from AWS. MSFT and GOOG and IBM are attacking AMZN on many fronts.

If what you consider "doom" happens, I sense AAPL Longs may be able to buy a greater number of shares of AAPL with their February dividends than they would have at $180/share. For AAPL Longs, that's not a *bad* thing.

For AAPL Longs, that's not a *bad* thing. Yes true but not everyone is satisfied with a meager million, and I do collect a nice dividend to supplement my retirement. I was not aware amzn and goog were reporting on the same day. I was not paying attention. I expected that all the players would dump their names after a pump and dump and ride up a good Apple report back to 180... then further with a good outlook Q2. May still happen but with the players doing all three not likely imo.

I tend to think of most members on AFB as much younger than me and forget that many are already retired. Since 60% of our AAPL is in IRA accounts, *those* are the dividends that buy more shares of AAPL, but the dividends in our trust account, as you mention, provide a great supplement to our retirement pensions and my Social Security. My point was intended to be that, IMO, no matter what happens with earnings tomorrow, *investing* in AAPL will continue to be extraordinarily beneficial for its long-term investors.
