Samsung Loses Face in China as their Market Share CollapsesThis certainly puts Apple's performance in China in perspective: "Data compiled by market research firm Strategy Analytics showed that Samsung was ranked 12th with its market share in the period standing at 0.8 percent, lower than the previous market estimates of 1.7 percent. Chinese smartphone makers -- including Huawei, Oppo, Vivo, and Xiaomi -- took most of the top spots while Apple was the only foreign company that was in the top 5."

From different article referencing the same Strategy Analytics data: "Outside of Apple in fifth place at 11.5%, all of the other companies in the top ten for the fourth quarter of 2017 were Chinese, including Huawei, Oppo, Vivo, and Xiaomi." Different source, and the news here for Apple isn't bad; a yoy share increase. www.statista.com/statistics/430749/china-smartphone-shipments-vendor-market-share/ [shows 4q/2017 as 12.9, so different compare from different source.]
