For those worried (slightly) about the RSI sitting above 70 (79.14 at close per sharp charts), it may be good to take a look at how it's calculated, along with the supporting analysis. I had remembered it being 14 day, but it uses averages going back further, so in reality it's mostly affected by 5 weeks of data, though to fully support the averages sharp charts uses 250 days. Anyway, the mention in their info about the false top during a strong bull market seemed relevant, specifically the S&P in the second half of 2009 where it continued to gain over 10% after having an RSI above 70 and then a high RSI for a while. If you're curious, read up on the RSI Indicator. stockcharts.com/school/doku.php?id=chart_school:technical_indicators:relative_strength_index_rsiAs for AAPL action going into the iPhone announcements, looking at the 5 year data there is often a relative peak around the start of September. Lucky for the long term holders of shares, it hasn't stayed the relative peak for long. In the past 5 years, it's retaken that peak within weeks to 2 months. Still, if having to sell shares or covered calls sometime, it's worth taking a look at the short term seasonality of the share price behavior.
