AAPL is now GREEN, trading at $182.14 +1.20 (0.66%). Bodes well for the day.

How stupid can you look saying this one day after the company says the XR is the best selling model?

This analysis really kills me. I am sure that the fanatics who populate this board know the specs of various models quite well. But the vast majority of folks either don't know or don't care. You get a shiny new iPhone with Face ID. Almost no one will look at the screen and say "Oh, that's not OLED!". Even fewer know or care about "aluminum construction." Honestly, I thought Apple made a mistake with the bright colors, which is probably the biggest clue that it is an XR for most folks, but that can be mostly overcome with the right case. And as we all know, once you are in the ecosystem, very few folks leave.

I am not sure why everyone is so fixated on dismissing multiple reports that iPhone sales are less then stellar.
Apple guided at top end of $93 billion. With my math even if they beat that number iPhone sales will be down 3% YOY.
All the reports of production cuts only confirm what Apple told us. The market reacted to guidance.
Apple telling us that the XR is the best selling model does not prove that everything is contrary to what we expected.
We are not out of the woods yet. I am still seeing a move towards 160 in the next three weeks. If that happens then the high of today may not be seen until Jan.

I am not sure why everyone is so fixated on dismissing multiple reports that iPhone sales are less then stellar. The point is that it is a metric that no longer tells the whole story, yet it is still treated that way by lazy analysts. Most of us are not complaining about the sales projections, although pundits' calculations/guesses have often been wrong (see iPhone X), but rather frustrated about certain (most?) analysts being too lazy to develop models that capture Apple's current ecosystem strategy.

Agreed. However in their defense, WS is concerned that the growth of the overall ecosystem in the short term will not make up for a significant drop in iPhone sales. I think they are correct about high price reaching a peak as it relates to revenue growth despite a drop in units. On a side note I swam laps with my Apple Watch 4 last night. Great experience. Very impressed with accuracy of lap and stroke tracking. Upgrading from generation one provides for a very remarkable improvement. My watch got here on Monday when originally they said Dec 1. They will only sell so many $750 watches. They need the carriers to offer payment plans on these babies.
