It’s the first day of a new month, a new year and a new decade. I see it as a year that provides a steady flow of new all-time-highs for the stock we love. Welcome 2020.

Since there is just about no Apple/AAPL news today, I’m going to take a chance by posting this link to Dave Barry’s Year in Review 2019. WARNING! I am quite sure that folks of any political persuasion may be enraged by at least one thing in the article, but by the same token you may find yourself rolling on the floor with laughter 😂

Apple’s stock could be worth $100 more in 2020, tech analyst Gene Munster predictsWhenever I hear someone say AAPL is overvalued, I reply with my favorite economist's (Thomas Sowell) stock answer-with-a-question response: "Compared to what?" Ask for actual examples of companies that fundamentally deserve to be valued higher than Apple. I'm still waiting for an answer to that.
Give me an example of a company that not only dominates its sector, but another sector (because Apple is just about the iPhone yada yada yada), and is way more innovative than Apple, and is not ripe for antitrust action. In this last area, that of course leaves out Google and Facebook and possibly Amazon. The beauty of Apple being that it isn't a monopoly by any standard metric (market share), but rakes in 90%+ of the profits in its sector.
Apple dominates without being a monopoly. Can you even think of another company that does that?

Some risk to Apple Apps stores, but as you recently succinctly noted:
"So if Apple sells DJI drones in the Apple Stores, it can’t give preferential locations to its own products? Does Target have to give other manufacturers equal footing in its stores with its generic versions of toilet paper and vitamins and cotton balls?"
The prescriptive remedies are already being implemented: Putting 3rd party apps on the same footing as Apple's apps. √ (They've had a few oops.) Promoting third party's apps. √ Defending the 30% take or vig, will go fine. Developer's store membership options: "If wish to pay 30% for a premier membership, one of the benefits is an end-cap placement."
I just don't see much risk to revenue or bottom line. (I'm agreeing with you.)

(I'm agreeing with you.) Yeah that’s a minor AT issue, not an existential threat like some of these other companies that are legit monopolies and disliked by both sides (does anyone like Google or Facebook from a company standpoint?). I’m confident Apple could beat the App Store claim in court. But it might be pyrrhic from a PR standpoint. The current DOJ is mostly bark vs bite in AT. Of course, that could change in 2021. 😬 Futures looking green. 🍏📈

I enjoyed Gregg Thurman’s comments from the link: “Gregg Thurman said: But much damage was done to consumers. Journalists should NOT be allowed to write about economic issues. The above article dwells on the transient cost to consumers of the tariff battle (I say battle because the war isn’t over), and completely ignores the long term benefits gained from the concessions China made. For no other reason than Trump’s willingness to take on China’s aberrant behavior I hope he’s re-elected. Facing 4 more years of Trump and his campaign to curtail their predatory trade practices (including IP theft) China will soften its position. Yes, that will cost the US consumer in the short term, but so does undergoing chemo treatments for cancer. The danger to the long term health of the US economy if Chine were allowed to continue its trade practices parallels that of untreated cancer.”

Your welcome. Your grammar indicates your intellect. Always nice to know we still have a few grammar nazis aboard. "Your" so predictable with "your" personal attacks.

Your welcome. Your grammar indicates your intellect. Thank you, you are far too kind. You’re going to make me blush. I’m just proud that I’m a “deplorable”.
