Phones have clobbered GPS’s, calculators, cameras and so on. Standby in iOS 17 has one new victim. Bedside clocks. I have been wanting to toss mine forever. That day was yesterday, given nighttime, always-on mode. It’s my favorite new feature by far.

CNBC has Apple iPhone 15 Pro review: Lighter weight makes a huge difference. In the “Well, duh!” category, a picture in the above article made me realize that my iPad Air, on which I am typing this and is my most used device, has a USB-C power slot. I never connect it to any other device, only plug it in to charge, so it has never created any problems for me.

My wife's 13 pro and then 14 pro always felt much heavier than my 12 and then 14. The article didn't fully lay out all the weights, but the 15 pro is 187 grams. The 15 is 171 grams. www.apple.com/iphone-15/specs/www.apple.com/iphone-15-pro/specs/www.apple.com/iphone-14/specs/That difference is much closer than in the past, just 16 grams. It's now about the equivalent of 2 quarters and a nickel. www.usmint.gov/learn/coin-and-medal-programs/coin-specificationsFWIW, though it's probably available at many 3rd party sellers and cell providers, it looks like the Apple store has scrubbed the iPhone 14 pro from its site fairly quickly. Maybe they just took any back stock and put it right into AppleCare for replacements? I had a hard time finding 14 pro specs, either via links or just URL manipulation, and ended up having to just do a google search. And even Google's top hit, the Apple site using the URL you would expect, forwards to the /iphone page. The old iPhone 14 pro weighed 206 grams, so the 15 pro lost 19 grams, or more than half the weight difference between the 14 pro and 14. I must not have been the only one bugged by how much more the pro models weighed.

Personally weight is not an issue for me. I want the foldable one which breaks down to iPhone original size. Perfect for me. I don't believe Apple will ever make a smaller phone so one that folds to a small size is all I can hope for realistically. Chart has an ugly head and shoulders formation after the gap down. Fundamental news seems positive- which is unusal.
Apple's plunge has lowered it to the don't buy area of various TA indicators like the Ichimoku Cloud which is a fun one. A Sell on point and figure long term charts as well. Hopefully the fundamental good news turns the tide.

I don't believe Apple will ever make a smaller phone so one that folds to a small size is all I can hope for realistically. The use case limitation where that small of a weight matters much is probably difficult to find, but it is something that most people have around all of the time, and it probably helps to limit dropping it if the same form factor and similar grip characteristics weigh 10% less. It was just a thing that bugged me, but if all of them weighed 10% more I probably wouldn't notice or care. In that line, why do you like the original iPhone size so much? Is it just an anchor point you have with it? Or do you have cases where the modern sizing just doesn't work too well? I think the pockets in most of my shorts and pants fit current ones just fine. But some running shorts or swim suits didn't have as big of pockets, and it wouldn't work. And last night I had to put my 14 into my shirt pocket, but it only had just enough depth to stay in. While "does it fit in every pocket" is something that I'm sure Apple looks at but doesn't prioritize over everything out there, and my wife has pointed out that it doesn't fit in the pockets of many women's clothes (her front jeans pockets are normally too small). Do you have problems fitting the modern sized iPhone into many pockets? Or do you just feel that you don't need the larger current screen size and were happy enough with the smaller sized ones? I don't have a good feeling on how many people feel this way, but it would be part of the reasoning for Apple to push for or hold off longer on foldable screens. If not many people want a smaller form factor than the current one, or a larger screen than the current one, then there wouldn't be much of a reason to make one even though I'm sure they are looking into it on the R&D front.

It is hard to get out of the front pocket of jeans while sitting or driving. But I think the form of the first phone is beautiful. I thought the candy bar form of Cook's 5, 1st without Jobs, would never have passed Steve's eye test. That was when Tim missed the move to the larger phones that samsung Androiders got right. That cost Apple hundreds of millions in sales of phones and caused the price of the stock to get cut in half. That was the reason, one of them, for the Andy Zaky debacle. Some bozo who got hyped by PED as an Apple stock genius.
The last phone I really like was the X. The speakers were very good on that one, better than the 12 pro I have now. The form meaning the dimensions was pleasing. Very subjective.
