AAPL is down a bit at the open to the low 184's.
Lucky reminded of the upcoming dividend reinvestments (I think dividends hit accounts tomorrow). I don't have most of my accounts set up for DRIP...so I just bought a few shares this morning at 184.19 in my Roth with money from the last dividend.
Probably not the low, but it seems like a decent price for some dividend reinvestment.

Things seem a little quiet here. Is it time for ""AI thoughts and fears" Wednesdays"?
FWIW ProBoards shows that my exciting page opener has had 57 views in the past hour! If you are a guest and don't have an account, consider making one. Or if you haven't posted in a while, log in and put up a post.
I wonder if historically there is an uptick in volume on the day dividends hit accounts, due to DRIPs?
Happy Valentine's Day

There's not much news out there as the stock continues to languish, but fear not. This rumor from The Mac Observer will save us. /s The article references some user on a Korean website and they're calling it a "report." 😂 Here is a good chunk of it so you don't have to reward the site for their "reporting." www.macobserver.com/news/report-apple-targeting-best-ever-battery-life-for-iphone-16-pro/?utm_source=macobserver&utm_medium=rss&utm_campaign=rss_everything"Citing supply chain sources in a post last week, the Naver user known as "yeux1122" corroborates a series of rumors about the ‌iPhone 16 Pro‌, such as its display size increase from 6.1- to 6.3-inches. They explain that the device's increased chassis size and internal changes enable the device to offer increased optical zoom capabilities, likely referring to the adoption of the tetraprism 5x telephoto camera first introduced last year on the iPhone 15 Pro Max. The user added that the size increase will likely be barely noticeable compared to the current model, but it will still have larger bezels than Samsung's Galaxy S24. The device is also set to feature a similar-sized or larger battery. The ‌iPhone 16 Pro‌ was the only device in the lineup missing from a report last week that detailed the next-generation iPhones' battery capacities. In a follow-up post, the Naver user explained that many of the ‌iPhone 16 Pro‌'s components will benefit from improved power consumption. Most strikingly, the report added that the ‌iPhone 16 Pro‌ Max will contain a larger battery to reach the longest-ever battery life offered in an ‌iPhone‌. The ‌iPhone 15 Pro‌ Max currently touts a 29-hour battery life, so perhaps the ‌iPhone 16 Pro‌ Max will tick over 30 hours for the first time ever. Last week's report suggested that the ‌iPhone 16 Pro‌ Max will feature a 5% larger battery than its predecessor for a total of 4,676 mAh. While this is only a very small increase, it is possible that other efficiency savings could help boost the device's overall battery life. Other details outlined on Naver include the rumor that the ‌iPhone 16 Pro‌ models will continue to feature 8GB of memory, and that Apple has apparently improved the manufacturing process of the device's titanium frame while reducing costs. The iPhone 16 lineup is expected to be announced in the fall."

The interview is excellent, and Mark Zuckerberg's critique is thoughtful, and frankly, makes a serious point against Apple. It is hard to dismiss what he says. It is not a good sign for AAPL.

You're right. He presented the issues well, made some good points and seemed almost like a normal human being. Impressive, but I still think Apple will iterate the heck out of this. By version III or IV, look out. Remember, there was that story a while back about some of the team not wanting to release the product yet, that it needed some more development time... The cake is baking.

For another take on Zuck's comment there's this from PED's site. A tweet from this AVP developer/entrpeneur, www.tinanigro.me/about-me"Like watching a 2007 Nokia fan telling you iPhone is not that advanced because you can do the same with Symbian. He could’ve just said nothing, taken the best things of visionOS, add eye tracking back and be a king. Now he’s got his own Ballmer iPhone video. Surprising misstep"

Disclosure today that Buffet sold a small amount of his Apple holdings in Q4. I think that was the reason for the selloff on a market up day.

I expect Zuck to talk his book. Have you demo'd the Vision Pro yet? I think it's clear-- this is the first inning, as far as Apple's plans are concerned. We will need to see what developers create over the next 6-12 months. Also content creators, Vision OS upgrades, increased functionality. Just adding the ability to 'share' a single headset with another would be a major upgrade, for instance. Mainstream acceptance of the entire idea of strapping a computer to your face (or 'wearing' computer glasses, or some other smaller, lighter form factor), is still years away, regardless of platform. But today, if you watch television or love to watch movies, it is already a major game-changer, and without peer. It will likely be an incredible way to watch pro sports and other live events, as well. If you haven't demo'd, you really can't imagine, imo. I like Apple's chances very much. Having probably 20 hours on the Vision Pro, I believe this really is an iPhone 1 moment, which was dismissed by some of the biggest names in tech, not to mention the online, very real, anti-Apple-ANYTHING brigade. People forget how 'hopeless' the Apple iPhone was....remember how they said they will NEVER sell in China? Or that cheap copycats would 'kill' demand? Quest is NOT a better product, lol. Just cheaper (and HUGELY unprofitable).

People forget how 'hopeless' the Apple iPhone was....remember how they said they will NEVER sell in China? Or that cheap copycats would 'kill' demand? Quest is NOT a better product, lol. Just cheaper (and HUGELY unprofitable). It does seem like Zuck could be more than a little bit sided. Daniel Howley on the Yahoo article cited might not be the best reviewer, but he has tried a lot of things and should be less sided than the CEO of either company. In the article he said: Like most things, there's pluses and minuses. A Corolla is probably not a good comparison to a Ferrari, or basically anything in the Toyota lineup. But there are probably some advantages to the Toyota, like a cheaper price, having more clearance, and being easier to park. Plus having more 3rd party aftermarket parts and accessories. I don't know the various feature costs of the AVP, but I imagine that if within a couple years more good use cases and apps come out, while at the same time Apple comes out with an additional Apple Vision line that is lower priced than the Pro, that things will likely really rock. There are a lot of variables and questions out there on that, but at the same time it seems pretty obvious and is what fans/reviewers/investors/analysts have been talking about. By putting out a video like this, Zuck can try to delay adoptions/exploration while also appeasing current users and developers. It seems like at this point nothing is a sure thing, for either companies product. So a lot will depend on what they bring out over the coming couple years, both on hardware but also internal and external software than helps push good use cases and adoption.

He used the "fanboy" trope. That disqualifies almost everything else that he said. It also shows that he's been spending too much time online.

I would have been shocked if The Zucker had started to sing the praises of the AVP. After all, Apple is the competition.
