AAPL is down in the premarkets: $182.60 -$1.55 (-0.84%)When do our dividends reinvest? Yesterday? I doubt it can be yesterday. My dividends were only deposited to my account today. I don't do auto reinvest. On Schwab the dividend isn't showing up yet. Some places are quicker at putting it into accounts than others. My notes from the conference call say the dividend is payable today, the 15th. I just turned on DRIP for the Roth IRAs. On one of the kids accounts it had it turned on for QQQ, so as of the last dividend she now owns 2.004 shares. The joys of fractional shares. EDIT: Looks like I did have one account set up fro DRIP last time with AAPL. My notes show the dividend was payable on 11-16-23. My history shows the dividend got there on the 16th (based on how they are doing it today, it was probably the end of the day), and it got reinvested into AAPL on 11-17-23. The price was $189.2787 Looks like that pricing was decent for the day, about a buck below the opening price, and 42 cents below the closing price. From yahoo: As for my volume question, the volume was roughly inline with the days before and after the dividend or the automatic dividend reinvestment. finance.yahoo.com/quote/AAPL/historyTime to get outside and enjoy this new snow, before the holiday weekend crowds get here.

TD Ameritrade which unfortunately is being consumed by Charles Schwab had dividends posted this morning. We had a gap down 3 days ago and will approach oversold with another down day.

TD Ameritrade which unfortunately is being consumed by Charles Schwab FWIW it's been fine at Schwab since they switched our accounts over back at the start of September, so we've been there almost 6 months. It is a little different, so sometimes it takes me a little longer to find the way to do something. But I was surprised with how smoothly it went. They kept the closest office, and my guy there is the same, which is good since it seems like for the last 15 years once they gave me "a guy", it switched every 2 years. I don't talk with him much, but I stopped in and chatted with him for an hour a year and a half ago, when I needed to redeposit some checks when a house auction didn't happen. They also sent me their book, which at first seemed a little self serving but it's decent. There really haven't been any downsides. It looks like all of the cost basis info passed through, and our bank info. Our discounted margin rates transferred through, though I was worried about that. I think the only thing has been the little different UI to get to things, and having to rename the nicknames I had for accounts, like "My Roth IRA". Change can be annoying, but this really hasn't been a big deal. (EDIT: Looks like the dividends got into our Schwab accounts sometime during the trading day. On the accounts that were already set up to reinvest the dividends, it says something about that, but doesn't have the shares yet. Looking at a quarter ago, it looks like it takes an extra day for that. I don't know if some brokerages do it quicker than that....but it doesn't matter much to me either way. Looks like I will have to manually buy shares in the accounts I didn't change until today, which makes sense and also isn't a big deal)

Up 1.50 in the last 12 minutes of trading, and another 1.80 in AH currently.
Interesting, since I don't see that happening in other stocks. The stock app's mini graphs makes that comparison pretty easy.
I don't see any news on the stock app or yahoo, though neither are known for having instantaneous news. I'd look around some more just out of curiosity, but we'll probably hear something by the morning.
Looks like there are some stories that after Zuck gave that opinion of the AVP, that he is now trying to convince advertisers to not advertise on the iPhone. Strange play, even if this is a start to a multi-pronged offensive.

I'm only seeing vague rumors about Apple making an AI announcement within the next couple of months. I'm not sure that accounts for the sudden pop. Scratch that, apparently there's a Gurman bit out on Bloomberg about an AI tool that Apple is releasing... Trying to track down the piece. Edit: Here it is www.bloomberg.com/news/articles/2024-02-15/apple-s-ai-plans-github-copilot-rival-for-developers-tool-for-testing-apps?embedded-checkout=trueAnd another summary on Apple Insider appleinsider.com/articles/24/02/15/xcode-coding-assistance-rumored-to-be-early-apple-ai-effortLooks like Xcode might be first to benefit from Apple generative AI. The interview is excellent, and Mark Zuckerberg's critique is thoughtful, and frankly, makes a serious point against Apple. It is hard to dismiss what he says. It is not a good sign for AAPL.I expect Zuck to talk his book. Have you demo'd the Vision Pro yet? I think it's clear-- this is the first inning, as far as Apple's plans are concerned. We will need to see what developers create over the next 6-12 months. Also content creators, Vision OS upgrades, increased functionality. Just adding the ability to 'share' a single headset with another would be a major upgrade, for instance. Mainstream acceptance of the entire idea of strapping a computer to your face (or 'wearing' computer glasses, or some other smaller, lighter form factor), is still years away, regardless of platform. But today, if you watch television or love to watch movies, it is already a major game-changer, and without peer. It will likely be an incredible way to watch pro sports and other live events, as well. If you haven't demo'd, you really can't imagine, imo. I like Apple's chances very much. Having probably 20 hours on the Vision Pro, I believe this really is an iPhone 1 moment, which was dismissed by some of the biggest names in tech, not to mention the online, very real, anti-Apple-ANYTHING brigade. People forget how 'hopeless' the Apple iPhone was....remember how they said they will NEVER sell in China? Or that cheap copycats would 'kill' demand? Quest is NOT a better product, lol. Just cheaper (and HUGELY unprofitable). Once again you're seeing bad signs...first it was from Mark Zuckerberg praising META's product over Apple's...no surprise to most of us. Now you're seeing an article that you take as bad sign for the Vision Pro. Let me repeat paul's quesion from yesterday...have you demo'd the Vision Pro yet?
