Does anyone know what AI features are being put in competitor's phones that are called "AI Phones"?
Cramer just complained that Apple is going to need to get an AI Phone out to compete with others. Siri normally works pretty well for me, though I don't use it too often and I have had times in the past where it slanted its answers towards local shops/restaurants. It also tends to give me links instead of just answers to a question. And I have trouble getting back to it if I look at a link (probably a simple thing, but not obvious to me).
With Messages on the iPhone, it's guesses about my next word when typing have gotten better. And voice to text has worked well for me for years, even when in windy conditions on a ski lift, while wearing a face mask. Like TouchID, this seems to vary a lot for different people.
I upgraded to the latest MacOS version of Sonoma last night, x.4.1, and now guesses for my next word are happening in Mail. This is basically generative AI, but only showing 1 word out. So far it did pretty well, but I didn't use it much since I'm a reasonably quick typer. But I think this was a new addition (I had x.2.1 before, apparently skipping x.3.x). Apple seems to be pushing in these little updates and improvements, and it seems like one of the WWDC things could be giving access to 3rd parties for these sort of things, if there isn't already availability.
But overall Apple's push seems to be the continuation of their life long push with UI and even HW, of making it easier to do the things you want to do.

I don’t get what people mean by an AI phone at all. Feels to me like people slinging around a meaningless buzzword. At its core AI is software. Either standalone, or as a way to improve existing apps. Why isn’t an AI phone just current phones with better AI functionality? Where is this magic AI phone that Apple is supposed to be competing with? Are people thinking that an AI phone needs to be a new type of dedicated device that will obsolete phones? Like this Humane Device? What’s to stop a general purpose device like a phone from doing much the same in a properly functioning personal assistant? That thing has a SnapDragon processor. Nothing unique. How many people are going to ditch their phone for this class of product? And how many people will be comfortable interacting with a voice-only device in a public setting? Feels to me that we are at the goofy early stage of the hype cycle on this. Reminds me of Magic Leap before it flopped.

Slow decline means no oversold levels. So look out below. Inflation as anyone can see at the pump, with food, home insurance or utilities is ridiculous. The 600 a week to various groups during covid is now extracting way more from all of us. This is not going to help the overall market and Apple is not a leader as the AI stocks have come thru to the front. So watch them and they will be the first to turn up.

Apple marketing has clearly failed to get the message across.
