The library entry says this book had been on a few lists, like the best fiction list in 2022, and Obama's reading list. I didn't know that, but that's why it was first at an AirBNB that we went to 6 months ago where I read a chapter or two, and then my wife's book club picked it out to read. So this time I finished it.
I don't read fiction too often, but historical fiction seems to be problematic, not knowing which things to think of as fact or not.
This has that going on, but then throws in a whole different level. It does all come together, but it bugged me that the author did this, where I didn't really "get it" until over 300 pages in to the 400 or so, and that was after looking ahead at the last few. And then it clicked.
The fun part was that this was mostly based in the 1900-1935 or so range, with the build up and then pop of the 1929. It's not overly financial. But it does bring up some interesting ideas overall about perspective and what you get from different ones.
I'll stop there to try to not give things away. If you have time for some fiction, overall I enjoyed this one. And I guess by getting onto those lists, others enjoyed it too.
