Down a bit in PM - markets rallied yesterday but AAPL always seems to march to the beat of a different drummer....

It'll be interesting to see whether AAPL can hold 440.

I won't be surprised if we drop another 2 or 3 percent today. Just because that's how AAPL performs nowadays!

So much for my thought of reclaiming the SMA100 by yesterday.

Why didn't I put all my $$$ in GOOG instead of AAPL?? Zaky wrote a very convincing article last fall about why to pick AAPL over GOOG, obviously Mr. Market didn't agree.

Because you fell in love with apple. As we all did. As a company. As a wealth agent. Got blinded. Don't feel bad. Learn and move. I'm still trying to Still love apple but diversifying my trading away from if has helped massively.

It'll be interesting to see whether AAPL can hold 440. Looking at the timing of the serious PM selloff and the release of the US Production report, I'd say that the report was a definitive factor in today's selloff. I do not see AAPL getting anywhere near $440 today, and Closed my position at a loss. I've said it before, then violated my own statement, but I'm going to sit on the sidelines for the next two to three weeks.

GOOG right now is AAPL in February and March 2012. It is relentless right now, and has a lot of room to run IMO. Google is trying to get its hands on everything in the name of mobile dominance, and the market absolutely loves that.

Well with a little cash left I bought more Jan550calls. Given the inverse relationship between GOOG and aapl it is clear to me that this is a temporary selloff that has little to do with either company's fundamentals.
Will get the dividend tomorrow and hopefully we close the week above 440.

It was one of the few levels of support between 450 and 400. I wasn't expecting it to hold, but I did think that the daily 50 EMA might show more resilience. Instead AAPL just gapped below. The daily 20 SMA is next up. I don't hold much hope for that holding, but we'll see. Meanwhile I am sat on the sidelines waiting for this latest downdraft to end.

I missed most of q4 market move trying to convince myself everyone selling was wrong and I was right. Done well since Feb flipping my mindset to trading options on dia qqq xlf so forth. Still trade aapl but only when it sets up the way I want. Had a conversation with a friend in our industry that said it was an anti stock picking raging bull market. I laughed at the time but my 401k bares that out. Cheers.

+1 Bought a Jan 14 500 call today. Holding a few Mar 31 455 calls currently underwater, but will hold until profit or let them expire worthless.

Bought 25 shares, if support doesn't hold and we go to the $420 range will look to buy 25 more shares. These are not trades but adding to my long term holdings.

The comparisons to Google are silly...they're a search company, Apple is a Smartphone/Tablet/Media company. Also, Google is still growing EPS, Apple is not. That's the big difference...
And like it or not, Search is seen as a much safer revenue stream for Google than the Smartphone industry. Right or wrong, people see how quickly companies grow and then shrink in the Smartphone industry...when was the last credible threat to Google's search domination?

Are we still in a healthy retrace?

Comparing GOOG and AAPL stock performance isn't silly. And yes, it's a simpleton's metric, but it has the attention of the market. The difference in sentiment from the time that AAPL PPS eclipsed GOOG, and their respective market caps, to the sentiment now, is f*cking galling.

Are we still in a healthy retrace? Relative weakness is what is worrying IMO. I would argue today's move is showing big weakness. Half the trading left to pick itself up but 435 is important level.
