I think that the Watch is 100% certain. It's just what else gets moved forward (spring ahead!). It is Spring....watchspring? I want the new Mac Air....would sell like hotcakes. After using an iMac 5k, the display resolution starts to be annoying on my regular iMac and MBA. Who knows if we see it on Monday, but I'm in the camp with the others -- I expect more than Watch on Monday when you get as old as you are, eyesight can be a problem. I want the Watch revealed in all its glory, the Apple TV/HBO update (with more hinted at) and the 12 inch retina MBA. That's all....just give me a brand new product catagory and two overdue updates. I won't ask for anything else until June at WWDC

Apple Watch to get 55% of Smartwatch market? What does that mean....? Nothing. Because selling as many as what the others are selling now is not a meaningful number. They should sell much more than that. Once the cheap copies arrive, then the share might stabilize at that level, but with much larger absolute numbers.

One thing I'm curious about is how many points of sale there will be. Will the Best Buys of the world get their hands on it or will they have to wait?

You know how you just get a feeling about things and you can't really explain it and it is usually wrong? Well, I have that kind of feeling about this March 9 event. I don't think it is about the watch at all. I think it is about Apple TV. Don't know why, but I just do. Absolutely nothing to back it up. Which makes it a better guess than 75% of what is published in the blogs. I give it a 50/50 chance. The artwork on the invite obliquely hints at it but probably just wishful thinking. Or not. The timing of the HBO rumor is interesting. Luckily I haven't blog posted on Watch event, heh. Sorry, Watch HAS TO BE a big focus. Oh, ask pauls who is flirting with NDA trouble.

I'm surprised we're even debating the fact that this is an Watch event. Yes, it is weird that there are two events, but Apple is known for flouting the rules, not following them. Even their own rules. The only explanation I can think of was to freeze the nascent smartwatch market, and to get some outside app development before the hard launch. And yes, a dip is almost a certainty afterwards. BTFLEAPSD opp. Any TV that is essentially a new product would deserve its own event. I do think that will happen. A big, beautiful, -branded TV that sits in the living room with a big logo on it and has huge margins. And on that day, all of you skeptics will owe me and Gene an apology.

the watch has been better fieldtested than any Apple product in history. Tim showers in it! Angela....well...JD thinks Angela wears it all the time! It has been on the wrists of Apple employees for at least four months, sometimes disguised as a Galaxy Gear (talk about going ugly for a good cause...reminds me of the Star Trek episode where I had to inhabit Kirk's body....ugh). The watch is ready for prime time! Yeah, battery life won't be optimal but they will have adjusted it to absolutely the best utilization scheme possible. Apps? Plenty of interesting ones right away and the 'killers' will be rolling out in the months ahead. Design awards? Got em? Fashion Cache? Got it? Geek value? oh yes!
I'm ready to roll.

IMHO: a new TELEVISION will happen only: 1) when lots of 4K tv product is ready 2) when downloading 4K will not result in increased internet charges by the ISP. I am currently downloading 500-700G/month. EVIL COMCAST is charging some folks +$10 for every 10G over 250/month. 4K content uses much more bandwidth than 720.

That's translation/third-hand info telephone IIRC. I don't think anyone actually confirmed with an Apple exec in a recent interview. appleinsider.com/articles/15/02/25/rumor-tim-cook-reveals-waterproofing-on-apple-watch-has-improved-since-unveiling-can-be-worn-in-showerHopefully Apple Watch is now whatever IP-level splashproof/water-resistant is. Let pundits, bloggers, journos or whatever be "disappointed" - somehow I think most reviewers will be kind to Apple Watch except for *maybe* battery life. The people will decide. And in Asia, the people will buy the Edition in surprising numbers.

The two are related like chicken and egg (which comes first?). Broadcast TV (still a thing!) and cable can only do 1080i due to bandwidth limitations. Sats do 1080p via H.264, but that's only for PPV since the networks and pay channels like HBO don't even deliver content in 1080p. So 4 K TV's will have to get their content from the stream. But that's fine because Apple cracked the code, right? And H.265 video actually doubles the compression ratio of H.264 at the same bitrate: H.265/HEVC is adjustable for slower/throttled Internet connections BTW (that's still a thing?). A lot of TV's claiming to be 4K right now don't even support the H.265 codec, they just upscale like the first 1080p TVs did (class action, anyone?). I hope the TV will be OLED.

Also "spring forward" could apply to a technology leap of some sort ... maybe some sort of new[er] battery technology, or maybe a new kind of power-sipping processor or display? Who knows?

I hope the TV will be OLED. OLED is still too pricey and probably will remain so after Apple enters the living room. BTW, Sony is launching new sets in Spring that are expected to be awesome. As it is, the current XBRs are terrific, with some cool tech (no, not the dumb Samsung-curved screens). I, too think Apple will sell TVs. I've given up predicting the "when."

I have to laugh... has AAPL actually said they ARE making a larger iPad? and yet the stock dips because it is delayed?! They haven't even confirmed they are making one. I can't effing take it! Stick a pencil in my eyeball already!

Looking at the open interest, approx. 245k call contracts are set to expire worthless tomorrow. That's over 85% of all calls. The damage has been done, so I don't see any additional downward pressure from options tomorrow.
Of course, CNBC can always find a new moron to comment on why the Apple car has been delayed...

Hidden diagnostic ports on the Watch! www.macrumors.com/2015/03/05/apple-watch-diagnostic-port/Darn...I hope this isn't where they poke you and the body snatchers thing takes over....(I'm getting a big frazzled...bring on Monday.) Ahead of Monday's media event where Apple is expected to provide final details on the Apple Watch, a new report from TechCrunch details a hidden "diagnostic port" inside one of the channels on the Apple Watch where watch bands slip into place. While the port is currently used only for diagnostic purposes, the report argues it could be used in the future to interface with "smart band" accessories bringing additional functionality to the watch. The port has a 6-dot brass contact array inside the groove for the ‘bottom’ strap connector slot. Several sources have confirmed its existence and placement to me. It is very similar to the connector for the Lightning connector in iPhones, as that connector currently only uses 6 of its 8 available pins. Apple recently began opening up the Lightning port for use by third parties. A source says that this port is currently for diagnostic purposes only — but that there is nothing preventing it from being a connection port for future accessories. TechCrunch's Matthew Panzarino is careful to state that he has no knowledge of any plans by Apple to launch such smart band accessories, but the idea remains an intriguing one. Possibilities for such bands include additional sensors, external batteries integrated into a band, and more.

I think apple watch will be upgradable but the cost of the upgrade will make it worth while for the the edition and steel watch but not really for the sport. Il you own a sport you will give it to children or friend and buy a new steel or edition.

Any chance that the event will include information about the rumored Apple Store changes for WATCH support? I have not seen any reports of apparent renovation activities. One would think high profile locations would be a point of emphasis given luxury aspect of the product, which would make it hard to conceal any substantial changes.
