I know this may not be the ideal place to ask for this, but does anyone have any legitimate (not FUD) contrarian views on how this earnings release could possibly be a negative on the stock? I am so focused on all the positive expectations. I just need to ground myself and be prepared for a downer. I think the overhang of iPhone6 demand into January was big enough to make this a good quarter for earnings. I think the dividend will increase respectably. I think the watch launch is good enough such that they will say it was "a great launch" perhaps with some early numbers, perhaps not. And if not, some will use that as a slight negative for trading. I think if they mention currency fluctuations hurting earning going forward, it will be used as a strong negative for trading. And it will most likely be a buying opportunity if it does happen. I wonder if there's been any moves in iPad demand? Probably not with all the big screen phones being sold now. That may be a slight negative. And, finally, there will probably be some announcement, besides the dividend increase, about more return of capital to shareholders.

Few stainless Watches appear to be shipping. On the other hand, sport Watches, originally slated for June delivery, are being shipped to customers early. This is one weird launch. Maybe this will seem obvious to everyone else here, but the thought just occurred to me that Apple might be managing inventory with a "build-to-order" system. For the initial launch, they may have had a supply of finished watch cases, bands, and packaging, and are building the finished product (case/band/packaging) to meet demand. That might explain the wildly fluctuating shipping times.

Unboxing pictures of the Charging Cable. Yeah, we couldn't wait - had to take a look. Also picked up a dual-USB adapter, outputs to USB 2.1a and 1.0a from the same adapter, allows charging both iPhone and Watch overnight. The holder for the cable inside the box is bizarre, unlike anything I've yet seen from Apple. There are little pull tabs on both sides, a "use it once" package. I normally save all packaging material for later resale. Not possible with this package. The inductive end of the cable is attached to the package with that rubbery/sticky "gecko foot" stuff, the kind that holds new credit cards to the letters. But a bit more rigid, and a bit more sticky. I had to physically force the round end away from the paper. It would confound my grandmother to need so much force just to rip off a cable.

That might explain the wildly fluctuating shipping times. I think your theory is spot on. There was really no real way to gauge how the demand for these products was going to break down. Between multiple bands, sizes and watches and geographical demands I can't imagine how to handle a roll out like this. Apple has never had so many options for a product before ... I'm giving them a pass on the way it has gone so far. I do have to say that I'm not at all impressed with Angela's performance ... well what I can see of it so far ... especially considering how much she was paid to leave Burberry. Finally ... anyone who could sit through the entire video posted above regarding Jony Ive needs a life ... or should put the bong down. Cheers to the longs ....

That might explain the wildly fluctuating shipping times. Of course, for Apple, inventory is the enemy, at least since Jobs returned. As a general business rule, inventory is bad. The goal is " just in time." Obviously, for an iPhone launch, where tens of millions of purchasers are queuing up, desperate to get their new baby, that's not going to be an issue. But languishing inventory was a huge problem in the mid-90's when Jobs returned to Apple, and Tim Cook bulldozed tens of thousands of Performas into a landfill (presumably, Apple now has a forest or solar farm above that landfill ). That culture remains, and that is still the goal today, JIT products. The perfect sale would be a truck pulling up to an Apple store with your iPhone just as you slide your credit card... Anyway, personally, I'm hoping we stay here at 129.xx until earnings, so no dumb bunny like Dan Nathan can say that Apple's big quarter and the Watch are "priced in."

Just a quick note.
The Apple watch app store is now available to browse in the Apple Watch app on the iPhone.

39K 130 calls might keep AAPL in check. Don't want to run out too far ahead of earnings. Meanwhile, an ATH close for NASDAQ setting up, which would break a 15-year record - with AAPL out of it.

When we have a rise like this prior to earnings or to a big product launch, I always feel like Charlie Brown–that Lucy is going to snatch away the football at the last minute, and usually she does. Will I ever learn?

Greetings friends. Lurker since 2005. Buy and Hold guy. This forum has helped my resolve through the tough periods. Millions of thanks! Rarely have I felt that I had anything of value to add to our forum. On the advent of the Watch I suspect that cardiovascular services worldwide are about to experience a surge of interest. A-fib and other dysrhythmia will quickly become apparent to the user of the watch. Cardiovascular services will surge over the next few months. We may see a large increase in heart catheterizations resulting in stent placements, drug treatment regimens, and pacemaker placements. How best do you see to leverage this?

Glad I didn't short AMZN. If AMZN is responsible for AAPL's AH push, then I don't even care AMZN is trading at nose bleed levels.
Cheers to AAPL longs!
I sold what shares I owned on margin a day early (bought last week), but I'm ecstatic to see $130 again.

The ability to constantly monitor health, thereby detect variances, could lead to treatments of all kinds that some in the medical profession will state as unnecessary. Just cause we can see something we could not see before does not mean we have to treat it.....or does it?

Anyone know the time between when Apple charges your CC and when the product gets shipped?
And Red, I have experience with warp speed in my car -- you don't need to restrict me to Enterprise's nanny gear.
