Good morning everyone. A lot of RED in Asia and Europe, but major US indices are GREEN. AAPL is also GREEN trading at 111.01 +0.86 (0.78%). Perhaps someone on Wall Street actually watched the event rather than just ticking items off on the 'expected' list... In the news: USA Today has 5 things Apple has yet to tell us. IMHO A fluff FUD piece, but you can decide... Not much else yet. Have a great day. Let's make money.

MacBreak Weekly covers the event: twit.tv/shows/macbreak-weekly/episodes/471?autostart=falseOut of 100 different observations, the ONE that stuck out to me is the iPhone upgrade program. www.apple.com/shop/iphone/iphone-upgrade-program1) Many iPhone users CURRENTLY keep their iPhones longer than 2 years. The current lease/purchase program through the carriers allow the carriers to PROFIT when a customer keeps their iPhone past a certain point. 2) The program will encourage iPhone users to upgrade EVERY year from an STORE. 3) Current ANDROID customers will see a $500-$800 price tag when new ANDROID smartphones are introduced if the carriers don't copy . AND CARE+ available (ONLY?) at the STORES will encourage iPhone customers to purchase their iPhones from STORES. Carriers will become a simple utility over time.

It looks like USA Today picked up the Reuters piece (or their own version of it) and it is currently their front page story. I'll take that over FUD any day. Article very positive for Apple.

Nice, USA today is usually very anti Apple. Also. Nice to see the bull flag on this morning's chart resolve to the upside. Another just formed, repeat please.

Nice to see Apple above Tuesday's close. Now on to beat Wednesday's high and hold it for the day.

Of course, just about every review of yesterday's event has to include SJ's "Who wants a stylus?" quote from the iPhone introduction. It would make me happy if just one of them noted that he was talking about the primary input device; the Pencil is clearly intended for specialized use with specific apps, not as an alternative to the multi-touch interface.
I give Apple credit for daring to provide extended capabilities despite knowing full well what the initial response would be.

The most comforting article I've read so far about yesterday's event is a piece by Bloomberg about the development of 3D touch. Not because it reveals so much or even gets to the evolution of it but because it indicates to me that it's business as usual in the design department. As many have said in the past they look for a "change in story" to determine whether to stay with a stock or to ease out of it. This story doesn't appear to have changed but boy do the keep printing new chapters. You'll find the article here. www.bloomberg.com/features/2015-how-apple-built-3d-touch-iphone-6s/There is a video at the bottom of the story that captures the writers impressions in subtle ways that feel somewhat different from the story itself. Worth a watch.

Listening to the head of AT&T on CNBC this morning talking to Jon Fortt. It's really funny to listen to him try and rationalize Apple's new iPhone purchase plan as being good for the industry as well as good for AT&T .... They are in BIG trouble. Why on earth would you buy a phone from them now ? Apple in INCLUDING Apple Care as well as allowing upgrades every year ... now you can choose your carrier and switch whenever you want. For years people were screaming how carriers were going to get rid of subsidies and it would be the death of Apple ... Wrong as usual.
Like I said yesterday , in terms of revenue this new iPhone plan was the biggest thing we have heard in YEARS. Bravo Apple.
Next step ... Apple will buy T-Mobile and provide their own service .... Screw the others as Apple does not need their distribution any longer .... iPhone pulls customers in. Can you just imagine what would happen to a carrier if Apple denied them the phone ? Carriers are Apple's lap dogs .... Cable companies next. (Insert evil laugh) ....
Cheers to the longs ... yesterday was momentous ... as usual the dolts on WS don't get it yet.

For years people were screaming how carriers were going to get rid of subsidies and it would be the death of Apple ... Wrong as usual. It's not like there is anything keeping carriers from changing their policy or adding something....as long as they still get the product to sell. And truthfully Apple is quite a ways from pulling products from mobile vendors and having it be a good thing. I'd rather buy straight from Apple and cut out the middleman, but the cell companies are large enough that they should be able to match or undercut the monthly price. And my understanding is that they are keeping subsidies around for current customers. I'd like to see Apple take a bite out of the cell companies, but it's like the saying of boiling a frog, where you just slowly turn up the heat. Or Shawshank Redemption, if you prefer. Either way, Apple is making progress in a slow way, similar to it becoming the vendor in the digital camera space, without previously making a digital camera that sold much. But as it migrated into a great product that users always had with them, suddenly it replaced a huge marketshare of the traditional digital cameras.

Seeing some artist and graphic designer feedback on the pencil. They want it yesterday. Waycom must be panicking right about now.

Not for anything but Steve Jobs was human - granted a genius - but made a lot of mistakes as well so for the love of God these people just like to selectively pick whatever the hell suits them to bring on the FUD. Enough already ... it's a sport for them. Really disgusting. What contribution to society have these idiots made lately other than to post crap?!

You know, ladies and gentlemen of the board, I had a thought tonight you might find amusing.
I believe we have enough investing know-how and intellectual firepower on this board that if we took ourselves private, we could out-invest most every firm on Wall Street.

Siri interrupts White House press briefing. Automated iPhone voice assistant tries to answer question about President Obama’s problems selling Iran nuclear deal to congress David Millward By David Millward, US Correspondent2:34AM BST 11 Sep 2015 A very long question about the intricacies of President Barack Obama’s Iran policy proved too much for Siri during the White House press briefing. The iPhone’s personal assistant leapt in as the journalist, having waxed lyrical about a filibuster, asked if the President was disappointed at not getting the backing of a single Republican for the Iran nuclear agreement. “Sorry. I’m not sure what you want me to change,” Siri chipped in. Whether or not Siri was speaking on behalf of the White House was unclear, although the answer probably reflected reasonably accurately the view of the Obama administration. www.telegraph.co.uk/news/worldnews/northamerica/usa/11857576/Siri-interrupts-White-House-press-briefing.html
