For those of you who lost family and/or friends on 9/11 ~ my condolences today. I lost friends and it was by a stroke of luck that I wasn't in Two World Trade that day (I still have my ID from the building) as my company had offices there but I was in one of the midtown offices. Remembering the events of the day and then trying to flee Manhattan with three colleagues when the buildings collapsed will forever be engrained in my memory. I remember the sun was shining and it was a beautiful day earlier that morning ~ who knew what would await us and forever change our lives. Such a sad day.

3D Touch is so nice. As mentioned before here, the video is well worth a look. It is a true innovation, potentially really useful. Restores some faith in Apple. www.apple.com/iphone-6s/3d-touch/Also, with also such a nice name, it may catch on as a must have for phone upgrades or switches.

I like hearing that, should make for a nice squeeze. EDIT: this must be some usage of the word "soars" I am unfamiliar with. It is slightly higher than the month before and well within the average. It is half as much as the number of short interest shares a year ago. Here is the historical data from NASDAQ. www.nasdaq.com/symbol/aapl/short-interest

Guys. Just a heads up. Apple announced first weekend pre-order numbers last year and no reason why they wouldn't this year. This year - and this is huge IMO - they will include China in pre-orders. I just bought a shit load of long term calls looking for a big fri-mon pop trade

I just bought a shit load of long term calls looking for a big fri-mon pop trade I hope you are right, but the problem is the expectations that are set. If the analyst know this and toss in the numbers, then we may not get the pop. I just hope we don't get the "They only sold 100 million in the first week when we expected 900 Billion to be sold. How could they miss our expectations by such a large amount?"

I have a feeling Apple may not announce first weekend sales. They did not for the 5S.
They are setting us up for another sandbag in guidance.
The cheaper the stock remains thru end of the year the more TC can buyback with US cash.

Who is going to be ordering an Iphone 6s or 6splus this weekend? All 4 of us have iPhone 6's so no hurry there. But the Mrs. will be getting the PPK (pad, pencil, keyboard) asap. She's so excited (graphic artist). Have been waiting forever for the new ATV, definitely getting one. Dropped PED a line asking him to not publish the unpaid armchair quarterbacks numbers this quarter. Don't expect it to happen but it would be nice if expectations were a little bit lower so we don't have a "miss".The point was proven a long time ago when AAPL had tremendous growth and WS was underestimating every quarter. As big as Apple is now, it's just a crap shoot for everyone.

Who is going to be ordering an Iphone 6s or 6splus this weekend? I need a new phone. My current iPhone 5 (not even the 5s) is long in the tooth. I'm looking to get the iPhone 6s Plus. Trying to find a good deal for the service. Anyone know of a good deal for wireless providers in Ontario?

I'm writing the new Apple TV television ad to be shown starting in mid-November.
Fade in: family on couch facing big screen tv. Bowl of popcorn prominent. Mom wants to know if that nice movie about the emotions in a little girl's head is out yet. That Lewis Black is so funny! Daughter picks up new remote and asks Siri to find: "New Animated Movies". Boom. Then she asks for movies with Lewis Black! (ha!) Up pops Pixar's Inside Out. But then Dad asks if they can first check on the score of the Dodger Game....Off to MLB.com (via Siri and "boom", just like in the demo...
However, Son wants to play video games. Boom, they take a look at some hot new title on the big screen (go Siri!) before Mom gently takes the remote and reminds Siri that it is family night and they are going to watch Amy Poehler try to figure out an eleven year old girl's head....then play video games!.
Fade to happy family....and the voiceover: "the New Apple TV. It's just the beginning of the New Age of Television".

Who is going to be ordering an Iphone 6s or 6splus this weekend? I'm down for a 6S to replace my 6 128GB if they start offering the factory unlocked version right now. Last year the factory unlocked started shipping a couple of months later. I'm also down for Apple's yearly upgrade program but need to study the details first. Will also be getting the new Apple TV and probably the mini 4 too.

Quite a nice close. Looks like it was over the MaxPain for the week, and went up (today) more than the indices.
Technical Analysis folks, how does this close look to you?

Has ANY other company in the last, say, year. put out a tech product that's compelling, takes risks, and drives technology forward? Edge screen phones? TV sticks? Moto and Galaxy watches? IPhone copies, Lenovo? Pheh... The latency-free Pencil, 3D Touch, a tablet more powerful than 80% of laptops, live photos, universal Siri search on TV, etc., those are pretty interesting. What's the competition got? Let's see if Google's new phones at the end of the month have any of the right stuff.
