So, who got a 6s or 6s+ today...and what do you think?.. For the first time I am on the fence. My 6 is awesome. If I buy from Apple what will happen to my 6? Can't sell it since it is still under contract.

They are modeling 13-15 million 9to5mac.com/2015/09/25/foursquare-foot-traffic-iphone-6s-sales/I expect 13. If we get anything above 14, we could get a nice bump on Monday. OI cont to indicate 120 as the high before earnings. If we can break the 200 MA and hold it, then we have a real shot to move towards 130. We will know in two weeks.

I'd prefer they just stop announcing numbers. Deal with any negativity by buying back a shitload of shares, and then the precedent will be set for the future. Save the numbers for earnings reports.

They could do that this time. Just say they exceeded the 10 million from last year. The challenge Apple has is that they only have so much domestic cash available for buybacks. WS knows that so they are not in a hurry to add more shares. It is the retail folks that are moving this stock 30% in the last 12 months.

This tweet by Benedict Evans made me smile:
"iPhone no longer comes with a SIM removal tool. That's, what $100m in margin this year?"

Not I. The numbers hit the main stream press and reinforce the impression that buyers have latched on to a very successful product. The hype helps convince fence sitters that they might like to have one too and the naysayers to appear less and less credible. Apple has the right idea and I'm trying to go back to it myself. Don't worry about the stock. Get the product (and marketing) right to drive sales and the stock will take care of itself.

I cannot remember whether Apple included cleaning cloths with the early iPhones. I have a couple of cloths lying around from past purchases of iPods...still useful for cleaning smeared screens.

The manager of the Artemis Global Income Fund, explaining why they hold Apple:
"Apple is in the portfolio not because of the level of the yield, or even the quality of the yield – we don’t know where Apple is going to be in 10 years from now – but the dividend growth prospect is absolutely amazing. The company has $150bn-plus in cash outside of the US: that could result in special dividends and share buybacks, and massive dividend growth on top of that.”

Not sure if everyone saw Aaron Sorkin's comments to Tim Cook, but Apple should sue that cokehead* for defamation. *Truth is an absolute defense to defamation claims, in case anyone thought Sorkin could sue me.

More fun experiences today: (and strange). 1. So at some point today (this morning?), Google and all related sites (like, YouTube) stopped working, at least if you were running Mavericks 10.9.5. It's not just me, it's a lot of people and there are messages appearing in Apple support and other forums. They can't complete a secure connection. You can work around this by explicitly going to www.google.com to search (overriding the https) but this doesn't work for YouTube and other Google-ish things. Just as easy for now to switch the default search engine to DuckDuckGo, and maybe that's where it should stay. (I checked many of things; it's not my network; all other devices work; Yosemite works; iPads and iPhones are fine; an older MBP 15" stuck with running Lion is fine). I also tried my laptop offsite on another network. It's Mavericks in combination with something that's changed or wrong on the Google side that's causing all of this). 2. A client called to say, all my Gmail disappeared. Sure enough, it's gone. Did some searching and apparently she's not the only one. There's some speculation that this happened as a result of something in iOS9, in which on an updated local device, the Gmail account gets cleared, somehow, and then of course that propagates back to the server. So there are going to be a set of unhappy people who's email vanished from under their noses. 3. Curious that the common factor in all of this is Google. And it starts to happen just after iOS9 with ad blocking is released and settling in. Maybe just a coincidence. Anyone else running Mavericks; and finding that you can't search; that YouTube doesn't work; and btw, because of that, any web sites you visit with embedded YouTube links just show nice, big, empty white spaces instead?

I'm on a really slow (3MBps) dsl connection at the cabin but youtube has been painful for awhile. It will start streaming and stop after about 10 seconds then continue to load and resume 20 seconds or so later. Plug the url into chrome and it plays fine. Have no idea what the cause may be.
