I'm watching Stocktwits. I don't believe these people have run the numbers. The style of the sentiment is not the same as any of the preceding 5 days.
One more thing.... no mention of iPhone today as far as I know.

No "fear" here. What Apple did today is good for Apple and good for AAPL. It may just take a little longer for those benefits to be realized, though, as is often the case with forward-looking actions.
And if you're not really wired into minute-by-minute trading (I'm not), maybe you should step back a bit and reassess whether you want to deal with the volatility and uncertainty this week.

Looking at the store, it shows the new ipad as having an A6X chip, is that new? I thought it was just an A6 or A5X.

Of course! They make it up on volume! This is not about AMZN giving away their tablets, it is that Apple has left the low hanging fruit for AMZN and Google to fight over. Their model is about selling content, not the device. Undercutting on price hurts manufacturers (Apple) which benefits them (A&G) in the long run. The more kindles amzn sells, the more content they will sell the more money they will make. For amzn it is about the content, not the hardware. (so I seem just to agree )

Fusion drive looks awesome. OCZ has had something like that out for over a year. In fact, the initial ones have been out long enough that they are now end-of-life models.

overall, i'm pretty pleased with the new hardware ... the 4th gen iPad is a definite surprise ... maybe they're moving the release date to fall for their iPad line ... glad to see the iPad2 is still around ... not surprised by the $329 price tag ... anything below $300 and it starts to eat too much into higher margin iPad line ... love the new fusion drive but would have preferred 80% of SSD performance for 20% of price rather than %80 of price
we'll see whether my wife starts nagging me for a new iPad ... wouldn't mind upgrading my late 2009 iMac but it still is a wonder even after 3 years
all the best for thursday to all the longs, me included
someone please explain why GOOG, AMZN, MSFT, INTC and FB are all positive on a day like today with SP500 still down over 1% ... no manipulation, yeah right

The biggest missed opportunity of the event was Apple neglecting to poke a little fun at itself and run the video of Steve saying you'd have to widdle down your fingers to run a 7" device. I can imagine Phil looking toward heaven and saying "we love and miss you Steve but we think you didn't have this one quite right". Waiting for the Apple Store to come back online to order a new iMac. I'm loving all the new introductions. Ozzie Guillen once called the Minnesota Twins a pack of Piranha's for their their speed and the way they'd just sort of nibble you to death. Apples relentless recreation and extension of all their product lines must be exhausting for the competition. Microsoft's surface is DOA. they're back on line but all it says is "coming in November/December"...thought we would be able to order or at least pre order. sigh.

It's refreshing, compared to some of the other voices of fear. Please, guys, let's man up a little. My voice isn't one of fear. Just one of frustration. And I'll reiterate. I like the $329 pricing, even if the market doesn't. The bottom line will be better with $329 versus $299 in the long run. I'm just disappointed in the iPad number. I also don't like the way it was presented. Earnings related items should be left for earnings conference calls. Just my opinion though. And no, I do not worry about our long term prospects. And reposting my estimates on 4Q iPad numbers...

But given the description, it seems like this is a bit different in that the OS is actually in control of what gets cached, whereas existing models it's just blind caching of recently-used blocks.

The new iMac is beautiful, but again, Dec ship? can't get excited about that. The mini is what was expected, but $30 more that I was thinking. I thought $299 was a better fit to draw Kindle customers. Nice products, but it really throws Q1 into a tizzy.

Did TC say 100m iPads or over 100m iPads? If the latter this could represent low 101m or even 103m. Knowing how incredibly cautious he is do you actually think he would provide any actual pre-earnings report number? I don't think so. In any event we'll know for sure on Thursday.

iPads still up 40-50% year on year for September quarter, despite:
- more competition - cheaper competition - iPad mini rumours - earlier iPhone 5 launch (stealing some consumer dollars) - late launch in China (end of July) - lack of LTE compatibility internationally in the iPad 3
All that, and we still are looking at 40-50% growth!

"Two weeks ago" "100 m iPad". I have switched away from Q1 bullish.

IPad Mini pre-orders will be taken on October 26, which is this Friday. Hopefully we can get at least 2MM (wild a$$ guess) over the week-end.
Anyone remember what the pre-orders were in the opening week-end for the IPad 2 or IPad (3)?

Did I see 680 by Friday. My bad, I meant 580.
The iPad number release was TC way of telling WS not to expect much on Thursday.
The world economy and competition is forcing Apple to release cheaper iPads to keep the iOS train rolling along.
No worries, I think we will be doing just fine post April earnings.

From that article: In July, Apple said that it had sold 26 million iPhones, up 28% year over year, and 17 million iPads in Q3, up 84% year over year. Apple is set to announce its Q4 fiscal results later this week on October 25th. 17 million iPads were sold in that quarter, bringing the total to 84 million units altogether at that time.He is referring to AAPL's 4th Q. Can someone make sense of this? Edit: Never mind. He is just referring to the 17MM in Q3.

i have been in the child enrichment biz few years ago. if i have ipad at that time. it will cut a lot of my cost, also I will be able to release the child more promptly, parent would be more delighted. Judging from the franchise biz as a whole. it would easily consume 1800 unit of iPad for the whole franchise biz. that show how big ipad biz is. The most important things is it help to cultivate independence thinking in the young mind which is what most parent is looking for.

This was not meant as a financial disclosure statement. Treating it as if it were is possibly a huge mistake. It may not be all that accurate or up to date.

Looking at the store, it shows the new ipad as having an A6X chip, is that new? I thought it was just an A6 or A5X. Just watched part of the replay, since I missed pieces. Too much going on here, and then some stuttering, probably due to my 70 tabs open. Gotta remember to restart Safari just beforehand in the future, to refresh the plugins that get bogged down. Check out 47 minutes into the video. They said the A6X chip is twice as fast at computing, and twice the graphics power, plus there's some new graphics processing.

TC said they hit 100M iPads sold two weeks ago. The only thing left for interpretation is what "two weeks" means. Does that mean 14 days ago? Or does it mean the week of October 8 to 14?
