Good morning everyone. Short Trading Day today. Markets are mixed. HSI, DAX and FTSE are GREEN, others are RED. US indices reflect very thin premarket activity. AAPL premarket is non-existent with the Bid $108.26 and Ask $108.60. Let's see if Max Pain reasserts itself at $109. In the news: Inquisitor has Alleged Poor iPad Pro Sales Are A Disaster For Apple But A Victory For Microsoft. CNBC has Campaigners hail Apple shareholder move. Thank you everyone for participating -- including the lurkers. Different perspectives are helpful, even those we disagree with. Indeed the latter are probably the most important to hear. Enjoy the Holidays. Let's make merry and money.

Again - can't say it enough - thank you since84 for starting the thread (and so insightfully, I might add) each and every morning!

Yes indeed - good work here each and every day. Starting, closing, posting, opining.
What will the next year bring? Well, people have been saying "the pieces are in place for Apple to..." on a number of fronts for years.
- Home integration? Yes, it could get turned up. The focus is on the iPhone and will be for many annual cycles. So, I can't really get there anymore. - Car integration? Who the heck knows? They can't get industry players to ship a viable replacement set. Don't even get me started about Apple Car. - iPad? We will surely see iPad Air 3 with Pencil support. Perhaps Apple designed keyboard case. Redesigned keyboard case for iPad Pro. Taptic added to iPad Pro 2 (allows feedback for key presses.) - Mac? The gift that keeps giving. Might see a dual-screen clamshell, with the lower screen doing double duty as keyboard (with taptic feedback) and giant trackpad. Mac Pro sales numbers? Hades freezing over? - Mac applications? A weak point lately. Haven't seen Roger Rosner is what seems like years. iBooks Author? iWork Suite? Logic Pro and Final Cut? Let's get some serious upgrades, Apple. - Apple Watch: this will ramp up seriously. I expect an incremental decrease in prices on the high end, much better battery, and groundwork laid for version 3. Version 2 will retain the current form factor, but not much beyond the battery and maybe allow 3rd party developers to sell watch faces. Version 3 could be round. It could have an accessory connection (like the iPad Pro uses) for 3rd party bands. It could get better sensors. But it won't ship in 2016. - iPhone will certainly go v7, and it very likely will go either carbon fiber case or OLED, but not both. 3D Touch will get pushed hard at WWDC. - Stock will run sideways all year. - Apple Campus 2 will get lots of press at the end of the year when it opens. - Stockholder meeting in 2017 (at the new campus) will be packed. Buy your plane tickets to California now (Sponge can help). Unless CA falls off into the ocean before then under the weight of Tesla's new solar panels.

Saw this headline this morning: Bitcoin Cracks 100 Million Transactions, Comes of Age. Does anyone know how many Pay transactions have occurred? Anecdotally, there seem to be a lot more Pay users than Bitcoin users... When do we see a headline about Pay coming of age?

This article seems pretty compelling. Is this Apple's first miss hardware-wise?

The iPad Pro was always going to be a niche product, technology demonstrator, the answer to naysayers who said "if only Apple had a 12" tablet like company X, Y, or Z." I think Apple really missed by not releasing iPad Air 3 10" with pencil support. iPad v2 and v3 owners are ripe for upgrades, and having a screen-for-screen swap during the holidays would have made some serious bank. As it is, those sales may go to IPad Air 2, but more likely will wait yet another quarter or two.

This article seems pretty compelling. Is this Apple's first miss hardware-wise? This article is based on one report from "hit & miss DigiTimes," so let's not jump the gun here. Thanks, since84 and all the other contributors! Happy holidays! Here's to hoping there's more wind in our sails next year!

This article seems pretty compelling. Is this Apple's first miss hardware-wise? Repeat after me. It is ALWAYS about the software. With the exception of the early adopters who are just buying status, people buy computers to get a job done. PC's didn't take off until Lotus 1-2-3. ( Ask your Dad ). The iPad Pro is a platform for all that great business software that IBM is busy writing, among others. I don't think it was ever designed for the average consumer. The side-by-side screens are important in business applications where you are constantly referencing a second document. I expect the Pro to take off slowly, but eventually to be very important to the bottom line.

Apple Pay had serious lag waiting to process a $9 transaction today. Might just be system wide - day before Christmas and all.

Apple Pay had serious lag waiting to process a $9 transaction today. Might just be system wide - day before Christmas and all. I'm in the UK these days, with a Lloyds bank account (they had the best Apple Pay ad on TV this Christmas - i'll try and look out a link for you guys later if Rob London hasn't already posted it) I've bought most small purchases over the Christmas period with no issues using Apple Pay and the Apple Watch including about 3 purchases today with no issues, no delays. This thing is really a game changer. EDIT: Here's the Apple Pay ad: (hope it plays in the USA) www.youtube.com/watch?v=KT3l9QEhrrk

Personally I would have consider upgrading to the Pro, but decided not to since it did not have 3D Touch. My Air 2 is still perfect. Millions still use 2 and 3 year old iPads with no reason to upgrade and spend an extra $300. This device was for a small professional segment of the market. It was not meant to improve overall sales as many believed.

Just got an Ipad Pro... It's freakin awesome servo, we got one several weeks back and agree with you about the awesomeness. My only disappointment is the unavailability of the Apple Pencil and the Smart Keyboard. It should have been a no-brainer to have those available for iPad Pro buyers. Whenever I check the online Apple Store, all I see availability to ship in 3 to 4 weeks. :-(

I hope everyone is having a Merry Christmas! Hmmmm. Apparently you're having quite a celebration. Remember someone is watching if you're naughty or nice.
