This reminds me of the week after the first iPhone's release. My father-in-law watched CNBC for hours every day, and he commented how he had heard that Apple had really "blown it" in their release of the phone. Remember all the FUD at that time? Analysts seriously said that the lack of a physical keyboard was a deal-killer and that the price was too high and all sorts of other stuff. We know how that negativity on the part of CNBC turned out, but it seems like they have doubled down on stupid.

Yeh, nice work, Mercel! Now you can come back and rejoin us. We forgive you for selling all your shares in frustration and disgust. Now where did that red shirted ensign go?

Hey I will join him in selling all my shares around 130, even though I am very optimistic about the next 12 months and the next 5 decades.
Looked at some charts this morning. The tax selling which was initiated by the news of decreased iPhone production started at the beginning of Dec. it mirrors similar move last year. This time I think panic set in and we did not rebound from the middle of the month.
I have always felt that 118 would be the price at earnings. If we get there too quickly we may give up 118 and be closer to 113 on earnings day.
Mercel makes a good point regarding media and WS manipulating the stock for the benefit of option sellers.
The challenge is that one can't call the top or bottom when 42% of stock holders are retail. I think that 42% is moved by the media and we get 20% swings for no reason in both directions. Goog and MSFT (76% and 71%) have much higher institutional ownership and can drive the those two upwards much easier, since the little guy does not have enough power to panic the stock.
So by end of year based on simple fundamentals we should see a 40-50% move. Last year we got it between Oct and February. In 2014 we got it in a 12 month frame from January to Dec.
I think history does repeat itself and given how the media and WS move the stock, we can see this pattern take place in the next 5 years
Just simply follow moving averages and RSI to avoid bull and bear traps. I am still learning, and these 5 years have taught me a great deal.
Let's make some money in 2016.

Happy new year, Stardate 65.43.77 I have had nothing to add in recent weeks. Still don't. Mercel's arguments were terrific...too logical for Wall Street

There is a post in financial times today about Apple and apple car - don't have sub. Anyone here do? All I know is that when Apple introduces its flying car next year, the stock will tank on rumors that Amazon is testing pilotless drones that can carry a family on their ski vacations.

I bet if Apple discovers a simple and immediate cure for cancer - their stock will tank since the YoY compares would be horrendous.

Apple needs to fix their current products and services. My iMac is still screwed up from the El Capitan update I did months ago. Apple maps is utterly useless. Went to meet some friends at "Nick And Gina's restaurant" recently. Here is the comparison of Goolge maps vs. Apple maps location of the place.. Google was spot on. Apple was not even close. Waste 1/2 hour finding it. Never again. Edit: I am also looking to exit the bulk of my AAPL position. Hope for some kind of rise to close to actual value to do so. The company has lost it's way IMO.
