Will be interesting to see the action in NFLX today and after the bell. They report - will say something slightly positive and be will be buying "A Stairway to Heaven." The insanity of it all.

This seems like real data, not FUD. Not a good sign.

This seems like real data, not FUD. Not a good sign. Certainly not the news we would like to see. It is worth noting that this is based on a survey of 1,000 US consumers. Therein lies the issue with any attempt to read tea leaves -- is the sample big enough and broad enough to be representative of Apple as a whole? All too often these 'surveys' are anecdotal at best. We shall find out soon enough. Earnings are around the corner. Tim needs to confront this 'data' one way or the other.

No one expected 45% YOY growth. Anything less then that can be spun as negative news. I like their 155 price target.

This seems like real data, not FUD. Not a good sign. But this is a comparison between how many people said they would buy, and how many people ended up buying!! How does the reported decrease in that quantity compare with previous years? What does it mean for what actually got sold? There is no real data on that, which makes the measurement they report useless towards gauging demand or sales.

^ exactly
Intent to purchase is always going to be higher than actual purchases, especially for highly desired products like Apple stuff.
The barrage of negative data is certainly not good though, and while I'm sure a lot of it is, I wouldn't consider all of it to be FUD until we see earnings and guidance next week. There could be a ring of truth to it.

On third thought, maybe not useful data, and Tuffet's point is well taken.

No one on WS believes Apple when they gave us guidance for Q1 o 16.5% YOY growth from 66.5 to 77.5.
Maybe they do believe it but don't care about being wrong since they will buy after earnings at a very good discount compared to June 2015.

Many talk about Apple being a victim of market wide selling. I think it is quite opposite. Apple has dragged the market down.
Look at today.

I have to say I agree with you Sponge. Apple appears to be leading the market down.
Another disappointing day.

There's so much negativity baked into the stock price that I can't imagine earnings sending us anywhere but up. #FamousLastWords

Small inverted h&s- if Apple closes green - it's a bullish hammer. Several in the past few days. Bottoming pattern.

Re the Goldman survey - so 9% of the sample bought iPads in Q1 huh? Let's see... 300m or so US population... Apple sold 27m iPads just in US last Q!!! Buy buy buy AAPL!!!
/s - I think this adequately illustrates the value of this survey

Couldn't resist and just bought another 800 shares. Price has just gotten silly now. Paid 96.32.

If you are tired of reading negative articles about Apple, here is a more positive article about their moves to increase the amount of recurring revenue. Will they be as successful as the author thinks? Maybe not, but loyalty is certainly a hallmark of the Apple customer base.

They are notoriously fulla baloney to drive the price up or down. It's just ploy to drive the price down so they can load up before earnings sends it up. Typical. It's actually a GOOD sign.

The vibe lately feels like 2007. It feels like a crash is right around the corner. People are making do with the luxuries they have on hand, stretching the upgrade cycle in the face of uncertainty. Was at dinner with a guy tonight, someone I know has a net worth of 8 figures. He is using an iPhone 5. No plans to upgrade. In the past week I have noticed a half dozen iPhone 4S and 5 users. The contracts are up but the value of new hardware didn't open wallets. When will the next shoe drop?

Couldn't resist and just bought another 800 shares. Price has just gotten silly now. Paid 96.32. Attaboy. If by prolonged irrationality your bet fails to appear "no-brainish," I can't see how you can get hurt buying shares here. I'd love to, but I've a margin call to deal with...

94-104 is the range we're trapped in. A close above 104 would bode well for us as a good reversal signal to the upside. Not really sure what will happen in the next few days, but for every seller there is a buyer, otherwise stock would be trading at 0. Hopefully all the weak hands have been shaken out by now.
All depends on that earnings report....and Q2 guidance.

China Mobile's customer data for December has just been released. Interestingly the 4G customer growth rate actually increased in the last month and they converted a record 25 million customers to their 4G network (still only 38% of their total customer base):
