Last year's tech momentum stocks are bouncing strong this morning, while AAPL is down. Fake to the right, fake to the left, hail Mary pass!

I have really NEVER understood how the stock market works .... just when you think you can make sense of it something happens just to show you how little you understand .... multiply that feeling x10 and that's where we are today .... High Oil ? Bad for the market ... Low Oil ? Bad for the market ... Fed raising rates ? Good for market ... Fed not raising rates ? Good for the market ..... sheesh ..... lines between the craps table and the market are getting blurrier and blurrier .... AAPL still holding on somewhat .... make me wonder if Apple is supporting the price with purchases or if investors are actually seeing value down here in the low 90's.
Cheers to the longs ....

The guy who was driving the AAPL car yesterday needs to come back and put it in the fast lane again.

Apple's free cash flow for the last quarter is more than NASA's annual budget.

It's hard to grasp how much money Apple is spending on R&D. What are they researching that costs that much?? Battery life : )?!

Well, if I had to guess, they have 10-15% of their R&D focused on iPhone/iPad/Watch/related. And probably 20% on very futuristic things that may or may not ever happen. And a hefty part of the remainder of their R&D, 30+% of it, is probably focused on killing the iPhone/iPad/etc. Just as they killed the iPod. And, of course, some on macs and related items.

Quite honestly, it's because you are long side bias. You're searching for reasons to justify your position. Trade the market that trends and you will feel less frustration. A simple primer for that would just be observing the 10/50/200 moving averages which ID all the possible trends (short medium long) What is your stock or the index doing? Which side of the trade are you on?

This is what I've heard for over a decade: it seems that when a company concentrates a lot of cash on buying back their own shares, it shows a failure of imagination. The money would perhaps be better spent on R & D, wise acquisitions, and improving the dividend. We cannot directly see, of course, how AAPL has benefited from the buyback, so maybe one could claim that the stock would stand at 50 today without it, or perhaps it would be at 94.99. Nobody can know, and "common sense" is no great guide in the stock market.

OK no noise no intraday no nothing...just 3 time frame trends (daily chart, 10 day 50 day and 200 day... WHAT is the trend here? ? To those that went through the pain of 2013...why are you repeating this endeavor again? The stock will bottom when it wants to - when sentiment shifts...when it builds a base when that 10 and 50 flatten out and the 200 stops accelerating downward. Patience. Don't knife catch.
