Steve Jobs was so right about Bill Gates at so many levels. Boy wish he was alive for this...the Macy's 4th of July Fireworks display would be a far second to what his reaction would have been on a morning like this. Very interesting times.

A detailed explanation of what is at stake with FBI order www.zdziarski.com/blog/?p=5645Recently, FBI got a court order that compels Apple to create a forensics tool; this tool would let FBI brute force the PIN on a suspect’s device. But lets look at the difference between this and simply bringing a phone to Apple; maybe you’ll start to see the difference of why this is so significant, not to mention underhanded.

As if we didn't had enough crap to deal with ..... this stock is officially DOA right now. Just recently I took half of my IRA and bought TSLA ... glad I did. Now I wish i'd liquidated my entire stake in AAPL and found other places to put this money to work ....
I really believe in this company long term but I'm starting to think it's stupid to have money parked here for now ....
Half-Hearted cheers to the longs ..... Sigh ...

AAPL won't be going higher until there's a positive catalyst and/or resolution/progress on the privacy issue. Perhaps by April, when we'll get earnings, next quarter's outlook, the div bump (10%?) and stock buy-back update, we'll get some movement (up or down)... For those lacking patience or conviction, who feel they're missing out by investing in a dead stock, please take matters in hand and diversify all or some of yr Apple holdings like gtrplyr did. Coming here to lament the non-movement won't help - except for that need to vent. Not picking on anyone - just don't be surprised by sideways and down for now.

I sold most of my AAPL after 18 years of ownership, and am mostly in cash for the moment. I also bought Tesla, about two weeks ago, since I see Tesla and Google (and perhaps Apple-though that remains to be seen) on the cutting edge of the biggest changes in the auto industry in over 100 years. It WILL happen, since all the technologies for electric cars, self-driving cars, and on-demand cars have all come suddenly together. I suspect that this will be the biggest investor opportunity, well, since AAPL ...

Anyone know how quickly/easily a potential President Trump could add 35% tax to China/Mexico (Apple) imports? Is it just talk, or does he have the power to do it via executive order? Good question. A trade war with China could end badly for US firms. Would there be anything left to buy at Walmart?

Would they pose an import duty on Samsung products coming from Korea? If this is just about Apple being an American co, then they could do what Burger King did. Buy a Canadian company and move he "head office" to Canada. This may also help address some of the other issues current on the table.

Chances of it happening are slim to none but I think it would be a great idea. Instead of sitting back and taking the abuse Apple needs to show that they have options and are willing to go ahead with them.

I think Foxconn started manufacturing in Brazil because of that. www.reuters.com/article/us-foxconn-brazil-apple-insight-idUSKBN0N40CP20150413 I thought the import taxes on electronics was up to 100%. Can you imagine what would happen to the economy of the US if electronics being imported in (basically everything) was now double in price, relative to other places in the world?

I also sold all my AAPL a few weeks ago and went all in on TSLA. Model 3 reservations start in just a month, and that should be a positive catalyst to a much beaten down stock.
But I plan to return to AAPL, perhaps not as aggressively as before, but I'm still bullish long term. Short term, not so much.

Just by putting those two words together, "President" and "Trump", you've put up a big gloomy cloud in an otherwise blue California sky on a bright and beautiful day. Stop it!

Absolutely no reason to buy the stock right now. Only catalyst ahead is a sizeable dividend increase but I'm sure Apple is going to wuss out and give 8-10%. If it's not a growth stock and it's not a value stock, who's going to want it?

Ah, a friendly note from the Apple "webmaster" who noticed "unusual activity" in my account over the last 24 hours. I was logged from different locations which they marked as suspect so they want me to let them now...wait...oh, they meant "know", just a typo, that I'm the owner of the Apple account. Wait, how do I know this e-mail is really from Apple? Do I see the Apple icon? Yup. there it is. Does it say Apple Inc. anywhere. Well, it says "Copyright 2016 Apple, Inc." so there's a comma between Apple and Inc but I'm sure that's just another typo. Well, just let me click on this link to verify my account and I can get things straightened out with Apple. I got this e-mail early this morning. It's so painfully obvious to all of us on the board that it's not from Apple and is instead from some party trying get me to click on the link and type in my account information, for god knows what purpose. My point of posting this is because it illustrates how naive many computer, tablet and phone users are because if this obviously fake e-mail didn't work occasionally, the bad guys wouldn't keep using it. Since privacy and security are not issues with them, I'm going to go out on a limb and guess that many, if not most, of these technologically naive people would not be reluctant to cast their vote on the government side to force Apple to help obtain the information on the killer's work iPhone. You know the phone I'm referring to, of course, it's the phone that was left untouched when the killers crushed their two personal phones and removed the hard drive from their computer. No doubt there's important information on that phone and the killers just "forgot" to crush it. /s

I wish apple would buy aggressively here to show that the market is supporting what they are doing. If Apple tanks it's a data point which hopefully stings apples mgt team to do something soon.
