Kinda sad to hear iPhone 7 is shaping up to be an iteration. At a minimum they should bring the taptic actuator to the iPhone, then a bigger battery, then some kind of inductive charging system. Taptic actuator in iPhone is a no-brainer. They have it in the watch and under laptop trackpads. Taptic feedback while typing would make the iPhone the "ultimate Blackberry killer." (Taptic will eventually allow Apple to replace the keyboard area of a laptop with a second screen, which transforms into a keyboard while typing and a multitouch screen when not.)
I think the Apple-branded battery case was a teaser put out by the engineering team to field-test components for a future inductive case. The next big "a-ha" improvements are probably going to come from Beats, in the form of bluetooth-enabled, bone-conduction headphones. Take the headphones off, drop them near your iPhone case or even a future laptop or iPad to charge by induction. The Apple formula is to overhaul industry solutions that suck and make them "just work". Well, right now bluetooth headphone solutions really suck. Time for the Apple/Beats treatment.

No need to be sad, NO one sans apple knows what the iPhone 7 holds, it is all pure speculation based on a case. I can make up facts as well. The iPhone 7 will no longer feature A series chips. Instead, it will be filled with pudding. And now it is true, because Internet.
In other news, Tesla wants to buy SolarCity. One over indebted, cash flow negative company wants to buy another heavily indebted company owned by the same people. What could possibly go wrong?

Thank you to everyone for the welcome back. It seems like modern hospitals have huge investments in oxycodone. Whatever you ask for, from a warm blanket to serious pain relief gets translated into a request for the stuff. Seriously, they push it on you at every turn. I mention this for two reasons. First to ask forgiveness if my posts don't make sense and second to say that WS analysts posts are suddenly clear and logical

At this stage of the cycle, hardware and design leaks and rumours are very accurate. There might be some cool software that surprises us or even something "revolutionary" like 3D Touch but it's not going to sell units when everyone wants or expects a redesign. The removal of the headphone jack still seems to be unconfirmed. I'm hoping they decided to hold off on this another year. In my opinion, this is a negative design change that will take some time for people to adjust to. Similar to Lightning, initial reaction will be unfavourable and the benefits will only be seen down the line. It is far more suited to be included during a radical design change (next year's iPhone) rather than an iteration, when everyone is excited to get the latest and greatest and can deal with the headache. If the only change people see is the lack of a headphone jack (minimal thickness improvement, camera bump remaining) then it's going to be considered inferior to the iPhone 6/6s to many. Internals and speed matter but not so much these days. The 6 series phones are still blazing fast - there's really no rush to upgrade and Apple doesn't seem to be providing the appropriate incentives this year.

Go Bud! Welcome back! Evidently, just because you cannot keep a good man down, it does not mean that a bad one is doomed. I got back from the hospital today and seem to be on the mend. The heart part of the operation went well despite a difficulty putting me under. I went into the operation with several fused cervical vertebra. I used to be into body building and let my neck get too developed restricting my range of motion, which allowed calcium buildup to lock the vertebra. This caused two problems. First they pinched a nerve in my neck causing my left arm to spasm and second, they could not keep me under as long enough to use the heart/lung machine. So these heroic doctors did a double bypass on me without stopping my heart. One of them said it was like having sex standing up in a canoe. Possible but you have to be very coordinated. I am still amazed at their skill The pain from the nerve damage has kept me from recovering as fast as I would like, but I am getting better day by day. When I finally got back to the computer, I was genuinely overwhelmed by all your good wishes and support. My wife and I thank you all sincerely for your thoughts and prayers. I am OK. Now lets pour all that good energy into our favorite fruit company

Neil Cybart's take away from WWDC uses Continuity (without explicitly referring to it) to take his guess at Apple's UI direction in the coming years. Fundamentally, it focuses on the transition from the hub/spoke model of the Mac and iPhone eras to a more distributed set of services hosted on a set of cooperating devices. The upside is that it makes the user even more dependent on a broad collection of Apple hardware devices, with a "right tool for the job" type of philosophy. The challenge may to be identify a fully-capable minimal device set in order to give the less fanatical Apple devotees an acceptable starting point. One of the strengths of the iPhone has always been that it is the device you always have with you; obviously, they would like the WATCH to attain the same status, and this strategy provides some justification for making that happen. As always, a very thoughtful piece from Mr. Cybart, and a unique perspective on the message of WWDC from what I have seen.

Apple, the world's most profitable and vulnerable consumer tech-focused company.
Same as it ever was, except for the $200B+ revenue scale and profitability part.

Vice News just did a documentary about the sky rocketing heroine epidemic in the US and the relation to highly addictive prescription painkillers. Scary stuff.
