Internet articles still proliferating about supposed interest by Apple in acquiring Tidal. MacDailyNews has Goldman Sachs: Virtual Reality not yet at Apple like level of refinement More articles popping up concerning Spotify's claim the Apple App Stor is used as a weapon against competition. Generally, not any any real news of interest that I could find, sorry I am greatly anticipating Since84's return.

Thanks for your efforts filling in for Since84. You're doing a fine job. Edit: Instead of wasting $ on another music-related acquisition (like the Beats fiasco), just issue a special one or two dollar dividend. I'd be much happier personally. :/

I wouldn't mind them acquiring Tidal actually. Could do the image of music and apple quite a bit of good.

Cook should go IMO. Think hes' a stand up guy and brilliant at logistics but AAPL has greatly lost its focus.

I would definitely NOT want them to acquire Tidal. The whole Beats - Dr. Dre - Iovine thing has this company with nothing more than fancy ear phones. Seriously? The whole Apple music venture has not been stellar. They should have just bought Spotify and improved on that. Not seeing what Iovine has done to make Apple (esp. AAPL music) a better place IMHO. On a last important note - I know JayZ is suppose to be a great businessman but I personally think he is a POS and Beyonce would be better off without him but hey - I don't know him personally...just what I read about him...and Beyonce sings about him. ok ... rant done.

This Tidal thing best be a joke. If you want to make a music acquisition, but Spotify and acquire immediate dominance of the industry, not another bit player.
Sad to say it, but MSFT seems a lot more focused than AAPL these days.

From Wikipedia Cook's aim since becoming CEO has been reported to be building a culture of harmony, which meant "weeding out people with disagreeable personalities —people Jobs tolerated and even held close, like Forstall,"[19] although others noted that "Apple's ability to innovate came from tension and disagreement."[20] Steve Jobs was referred to as the "decider" who had the final say on products and features while he was CEO, reportedly keeping the "strong personalities at Apple in check by always casting the winning vote or by having the last word", so after Jobs' death many of these executive conflicts became public. Forstall had such a poor relationship with Ive and Mansfield that he could not be in a meeting with them unless Cook mediated; reportedly, Forstall and Ive did not cooperate at any level.[12] Being forced to choose between the two, Cook reportedly chose to retain Ive since Forstall was not collaborative.[21] Forstall was very close to and referred to as a mini-Steve Jobs, so Jobs' death left Forstall without a protector.[4] Forstall was also referred to as the CEO-in-waiting by Fortune magazine and the book "Inside Apple" (written by Adam Lashinsky), a profile that made him unpopular at Apple.

I respect him a lot as an engineer, a businessman and for his values. But I think he needs to really focus more on what makes Apple successful. Based on his conference calls, he doesn't seem to have a good handle on where his products are going. He shifted the focus to services way too late, making it look like desperation instead of confidence. Being Apple CEO is pretty much an impossible task, and I really don't know if anyone would be better than Cook. That said, he needs to go back to basics - hardware, and spend more time growing the business rather than choosing which woman or visible minority to put on stage at his keynote. And I say this as a very liberal person.

We need an arrogant, egotistical, disagreeable but rather brilliant person to take over where SJ left off. JD - You available?

How too manage focus in the levels of management I imagine to be a heavy burden. But I wish Tim would stay the heck away from non related controversies and show a little vision to wall street..

He would rip out all the solar panels around the spaceship and install a huge coal bin, then use a push-rod V8 engine instead of electric in the new Apple car. It would be an exciting new era! To win over everyone he would use the slogan "Make Apple Great Again!"
