Soooooooooo, is everybody ready for BIG (post earnings) SLIDE tomorrow... ahhHA HA HA HA HA [plan accordingly] On your marks, get set, GO... "Piper Jaffray analyst, Gene Munster, maintained his Overweight rating on shares of Apple (NASDAQ: AAPL). The analyst expects Apple's Jun-16 quarter/Sep-16 guide on Tuesday 7/26 to be a largely neutral event for the stock because buy-side expectations are low for iPhone and the overall business. If Apple reports an in-line quarter and guides down slightly (~5%), which seems to be buy-side thinking, the stock would likely drift higher, although not move significantly. Bigger picture, the expectations for the iPhone 7 remain extremely low, thus any potential "wild card" improvements would be a meaningful positive for shares in September. Even an in-line iPhone 7 still leaves the stock facing easy comps in Mar-17 and Jun-17 with growing expectations for the 10th anniversary iPhone, either 7S or 8, in 2017. The most likely scenario is that Apple guides Sept-16 to $43-45 billion in revenue, which would imply around 41-42 million iPhones, and gross margins to 37-38%. We note the iPhone 7 launch could impact the September quarter guide given Apple's demand expectation and channel fill plan. The analyst surveyed 20 buy-side investors to generate a consensus for expectations. He believes the buyside is expecting Sept revenue guidance of $44.5 million and 41 million unit shipments. Both of these figures are below consensus and imply low expectations. No change to the price target of $153." hehe.... www.streetinsider.com/Analyst+Comments/The+Axe+on+Apple+(AAPL)+Expects+Earnings+To+Be+A+Non-Event/11858080.htmlLAST YEAR 4th quarter (September) = $51.5 billion seekingalpha.com/article/3611256-apples-aapl-ceo-tim-cook-q4-2015-results-earnings-call-transcript?part=singleWith over a 10% decline, GOOD OLD GENE still sees a price target of $153?

Our pal Collin Gillis has cut AAPL to SELL - I believe he is promoting a $85 pt. CNBC pimping this a ton. Would be nice if they could have Brian White ($185 pt) and Collin Gillis do a face-off segment.

Gene has always been a friend to AAPL but unfortunately, his track record as of late is pretty spotty. I have some free cash but I'm not going to put any to work until Wed , if we dip I get a sale price on a stock that usually goes up before a major launch such as iPhone 7 ... if it goes higher I'm fine with buying in after we cross some technical levels and show some momentum. I'm completely clueless on what they will report and how wall street will act ... it's really nuts out there and my hat is off to any of you short term traders .... Just close with this ... yesterday I was at one of the larger malls in the area and wandered into a T-Mobile store. I'm about to upgrade my daughter's iPhone 5C to a iPhone SE .... the salesman got a huge smile on his face when I asked him about the phone and pulled one out of his pocket and told me how he "downgraded" from a 6+ and couldn't be happier. He thinks the SE form factor is fantastic and said his battery life is unbelievable . He also told me that they are always selling out of the SE and it's selling very well .... he was also surprised because according to him Apple does not really push the product. My response was that Apple designed it more for foreign markets and hopefully the push is on in India and China where it will be a entry level product for many who would otherwise not be able to purchase a more expensive iPhone , of course here in the states it could easily have the opposite effect and push down ASP's . It's very confusing as the SE could be the thing that puts Apple's numbers higher or could really lead to a dramatically less revenue .... I have NO idea. Oh and BTW, they were sold out of the Rose Gold version of the SE which my daughter wants so I walked out without buying anything ..... what's the deal with supply ?? Good luck to the longs ....

Is that the cause of the afternoon sell off? I think it's just people that don't want to be in for the earnings report ..... it's a pretty scary ride as of late . I was specifically referring to the spike around 12:22. Large volume and move down, indicative of a negative news event. In other news, Mace got his pullback to 98 and then some. Mace, if you are around, what does an overshoot to 97 mean to you? 94 on deck or 89-94 likely dues to earnings? Or nothing at all?

I think we are seeing a normal reaction to the disappointing earnings report based on the failed iPhone 7.

On a serious note, what we're seeing is a reaction to these kinds of numbers, with a likely forecast for more of the same. EPS is going to drop by ~$0.40 this quarter, and could be similar next quarter. If we have a trailing EPS of 8.2 it gives us $82 at a P/E of 10. It just depends if traders will take it that low or if people will jump in beforehand knowing that the worst is (hopefully) over. I'm not sure about FQ1 - it could go either way. I'm unsure about iPhones but Apple Watch should be a big boost (if they update it). In short, all is not well and there are legitimate reasons this stock is trading poorly. It's not only FUD.

The good news is that this month there will have been One Billion iPhones sold since its inception. Steve Jobs certainly put a ding in the universe.
