Made it to Rome, no sleep on the flight. Tired, but going to walk to The Forum.
Turning cellular data off.

This action after crossing 110 seems like scary hands doing some profit-taking.

110 is somewhat of a psychological resistance. Apple should struggle here a bit. I think the market sold Apple off after it couldn't pop hard on warren B increasing his stake. Apple has had a nice ride - Apple should consolidate drop a bit here and then take another run at 110. For those holding options or trading - the retest might be a good time to push out or take some chips off the table

Agreed. Be careful not to get complacent. We've seen a run to these levels before only to get sold off right back down to the lows.
I'm struggling with the iPhone 7. One the one hand, install base is huge and upgrades should result in good numbers, possibly even record numbers when taking into account the extra week. On the other hand, it seems like a very uninspired device from a design and utility point of view. I'm sure the A10 chip will be fast and the camera a bit better but what else? Processors and cameras are already great from the iPhone 6 onwards. I know this is all anecdotal but I have read a ton of posts about people using Apple for all their technology swearing to turn to Android because of the removal of the headphone jack. How many of these people will actually follow through is questionable, but it concerns me that there is such a big negative floating around. And to me it is a legitimate complaint that goes beyond the usual whining about designs or protruding cameras.
From what we know, there is essentially no reason for a 6s user to upgrade, and for a 6 user such as myself, the only thing I can really notice that I'm missing out on is 3D Touch. I think Apple is just relying on the huge base and is counting on people automatically upgrading here without truly being excited about it - a dangerous stance to take considering the reemergence of Samsung and the new popularity of local players in China. I've heard a lot of positives about the S7 and Note 7 and would be surprised to see Apple continue to get record numbers of net switchers for the upcoming year.
Prediction: Next year's 10th anniversary iPhone will be released on June 29, exactly 10 years after the original. If it is as amazing as currently made out to be, there will be plenty of demand going well into the holiday season. It will also take some of the sting off this year's lacklustre device as well as throw a wrench into Samsung's sales of the S8/Note 8.

I've been following the company long enough (and you have as well) to have a pretty good idea. Leaks a month out are pretty accurate. Of course there could be a surprise or two internally but to pretend to have no idea what the phone is going to be like is just silly.

I'm struggling with the iPhone 7…I have read a ton of posts about people using Apple for all their technology swearing to turn to Android because of the removal of the headphone jack. Yes, everyone gets angry when Apple innovates…even though Apple is not innovative. Wait…what?

Of course there could be a surprise or two internally but to pretend to have no idea what the phone is going to be like is just silly. Obviously there is a difference in pretending to have an idea and saying that no one knows. Honestly, I do not have any basis to project the degree of success of the iPhone. I also have long since given up on trying to find a correlation between the iPhone success and the stock price. As I said in a previous post, I tend to just try to sense whether fear or greed is at play and extrapolate from that. Right now my sense is that fear (uncertainty because of the upcoming election) is balanced against greed ( a sense that Apple is on the rebound). Just like the low expectations helped us last quarter, low expectation around the iPhone 7 may help it be seen as a success even if it is an incremental improvement. I guess the best thing we can do in this forum is to criticize the product before we see it, declare it a failure and then everyone will be optimistic when it is not that bad. Oh wait.........I get it.....Way to go.

You're right...we should just eliminate personal thoughts and opinions from this forum entirely. After all, once we do see the iPhone there's no point making predictions on how it will do because the numbers will be out every 90 days. Why not just wait? Who cares if Apple is working on a car or not? We may or may not find out in 5 years!

Damn of you have an opinion and damn if you don't.
Here are a few random thoughts and facts.
Still in cash. Patiently waiting for the drop. I see two drops between now and earnings. The bigger in Oct.
I think the 7 will do well. Just well enough to give us YOY growth. WS is still expecting a drop of 3% in 1st quarter.
The new Apple Watch will help the bottom line along with new Macs and iPads. Services will continue to grow nicely.
TC said the tax issue may be resolved next year. If true expect Apple to hit 200 by March 2018.
Apple will then split by Fall of 2018 2:1. A big car announcement will come at the the 8S announcement as one more thing. Not an Apple Car but car related.
Then we starrt a 2 year frenzy of speculation.
Fun times ahead.

Look at how amazingly accurate Sponge has been. I guess I just have higher hopes for the upcoming quarter.

Damn of you have an opinion and damn if you don't. I don't understand what you mean with this comment. I read bud777's comment as just another opinion. Here are a few random thoughts and facts. Still in cash. Patiently waiting for the drop. I see two drops between now and earnings. The bigger in Oct. I think the 7 will do well. Just well enough to give us YOY growth. A big car announcement will come at the the 8S announcement as one more thing. Not an Apple Car but car related. Then we starrt a 2 year frenzy of speculation. Fun times ahead. The only parts of your comment I could identify as "facts" were these three: 1. "Still in cash. Patiently waiting for the drop. I see two drops between now and earnings." 2. "I think the 7 will do well. Just well enough to give us YOY growth." 3. "TC said the tax issue may be resolved next year." If you would separate your "random thoughts" and your "facts" into two distinct groups it would be helpful for those of us that are a little slower in identifying one from another.
