Seems Apple generates a lot of news lately, tax scandal, FBI confrontation... Concerning the tax probe, what I find disturbing/hilarious is how many international tax experts are coming out of the woodwork, especially people posting on blogs. One fact I can trust is Tim Cook's statement Apple paid $400 million in taxes to Ireland in 2014. That would seem to be much larger than 0.005%.

"Ireland's cabinet agreed on Friday to join Apple in appealing against a multi-billion-euro back tax demand that the European Commission has slapped on the iPhone maker, despite misgivings among independents who back the fragile coalition."

I am loving the Samsung news. The timing could not be better with iPhone 7 just around the corner.

I spoke to PED this am and told him that he should call out both the verge and the wsj for their bullish articles on Samsung and the 7 - they should have an updated mentioning this recall. He will do this today. Joanna Stern watch out

I want to see pictures of a Samsung phone blowing up! If it was an iPhone burning up, every single news outlet would have links to the videos.

Yeah and if you read the comments there is not a lot of love for the company or Tim Cook. I suspect and have a hunch that Tim knows He's going to leave soon (within a year) as CEO from recent comments in interviews, despite him being proud and still excited to head Apple. A lot of pressure and loneliness at the top for a multimillionaire and his satisfaction that he took the company forward after Jobs...some. So where would stock go if it happens?

I like this one: "Many mature corporations make the same mistake. They put a bean counter in charge and all creativity ceases except scams to avoid taxes." What did you like most about it…its incorrectness or its ridiculousness?

Do others of you believe creativity is being lost at Apple?
Or do you think there is pressure to bean count?
Thanks, Dr. L

Yeah and if you read the comments there is not a lot of love for the company or Tim Cook. Spend some time on Seeking Alpha and you'll see absolute foaming-at-the-mouth hatred of both Apple and Tim Cook. That influences me not at all and never has. Apple haters will always find something to criticize no matter the CEO. I suspect and have a hunch that Tim knows He's going to leave soon (within a year) as CEO from recent comments in interviews, despite him being proud and still excited to head Apple. Please expand on the reasons for that hunch and provide a link to those comments as I must have missed them. A lot of pressure and loneliness at the top for a multimillionaire and his satisfaction that he took the company forward after Jobs...some. Some? Did you think it was only some when AAPL was at it's ATH last year? So where would stock go if it happens? I, for one, hope not to find out.
