Was it something I said? ??? Great job as usual, Since84. Slow start for AAPL this morning, but momentum is building, with more positive commentary out this morning. I am not sure that the final two weeks of the last quarter will be enough to offset what I suspect was a pretty slow start. Keeping fingers crossed for good news on Tuesday.

Assuming we close red today, I think these 4 consecutive days in the red bode well for next week from a technical standpoint.
Fundamentally, Q4 earnings may or may not be good, but that's far less important than Q1 guidance. With iPhone 7 (and particularly 7 Plus) seemingly selling well, Watch seemingly selling well, stabilization of iPad revenue, new Macs (finally), likely record App Store sales, new Airpods and Beats products with the W1 chip AND a 14 week quarter, I'm finding it really, really hard to see how Apple can realistically guide to under $80B. This would represent a huge beat from current consensus.
We could potentially see every single category showing YoY revenue growth.

Not investing related, per-se, but I'm interested to see the iPad Pro 12.9 adopt the True Tone display of the iPad Pro 9.7. I know it is a geek feature, and if you're buying a iPP12.9 you probably don't care - you just want the big screen. I'm holding my breath (and wallet) until next week to see if last year's iPad Pro 12.9 gets the 2016 True Tone treatment.

After all, isn't that what Steve Jobs was famous for? I'm still concerned about the heavy R&D spend and corresponding lack of new major revenue sources. Looks like competitors are going to beat Apple to the punch with internet TV packages, and the latest news on Project Titan isn't very positive. Along with the great small acquisitions that support existing product innovations, I think Apple needs to look at larger acquisitions that can add to revenue and profit. I know it's easy and cultural fit is important, but I doubt that there isn't a single company that fits this criteria. I think iPhone and the rest of the product line will continue to be relatively stable over the next few years if not show growth. This should give Apple plenty of cash to gradually reduce float and increase dividends by double digits for quite some time, especially if and when they are allowed to repatriate at favourable tax rates. It's a great stock to have in a portfolio, but not the no-brainer all-in kind of stock it used to be, unless the P/E drops back down near single digits.

Thanks - I'll also read. It's not a disaster if Apple isn't first as long as they can come out with a competing product. But it does make me question why Apple can't get deals done that others can. It used to be the other way around.

Just saw this tweet: Apple approached Time Warner a few months ago about a possible acquisition, and is monitoring the situation around $TWX - story on @wsj Well Apple does have the money. This is way out of my league so I haven't a clue if this would be a good purchase for Apple. Could get interesting very quickly.

Trump will set 10% tax for AAPL to bring back cash! Can you do that if you're the star of a new reality show on tv? Interesting.

Trump will set 10% tax for AAPL to bring back cash! Link to source? Not that I think Donald Trump is the statesman we need but in fairness the quote below is from his website, "It will provide a deemed repatriation of corporate profits held offshore at a one-time tax rate of 10 percent." www.donaldjtrump.com/policies/tax-plan/

Can someone explain why this would be good? Why pay 10% tax to move money to USA bank? From my limited knowledge, a lot of corporate foreign profits are already invested in the US but there is a limited number of investments available, no investment in dividends or buybacks, no investments in corporate infrastructure or jobs, no investment in acquisitions, basically nothing that will help the economy. One may argue dividends and buybacks don't help the economy, but they fail to consider that most stock is held by mutual funds (re: even AAPL is held by funds to the tune of 60%). Most retirement plans are held in funds so the lower to middle class trying to reach retirement would greatly benefit directly from repatriated profits used for dividends and buybacks, not just the wealthy.
