Mrs. Rez got tired of her iPhone 6 going from (say) 65% to 1% battery. Since that phone was off-contract, she ordered a new iPhone 7 yesterday. Next project: figuring out how to trade in a lightly-used iPhone 6.

I asked her to call a local Genius Bar rep, hopefully she will, but I expect to be paying for an iPhone 7 soon.

The Baron's article seems quite believable. Not a good sign for the stock.

Shutting down with 35% battery +/-. I also have a 6s doing the same, however, it is part of the recall, so we'll see if that helps to have a new battery. It may just be a coincidence, but both of these issues started around the same time iOS10 was released. Anyone else notice the decline in charge quality / battery life with iOS10?

The Baron's article seems quite believable. Not a good sign for the stock. I agree that the article doesn't sound good, but I like to look at it differently. If the article is completely accurate, then Apple should have unexpectedly higher margins out of China if the iphone mix has more influence from the 7 Plus. Also, a 4-6% discount doesn't seem very desperate of JD.com to unload inventory asap. In other words, I think the author is reaching a bit on the conclusion that demand is weak for the iphone7. And Since84, thanks for getting the board going throughout the week. I'm not a regular contributor, but I usually read all the discussion M-F!

Hopefully it is an OS 10 issue and Apple allocated a lot of resources to identify and correct the issue. The Chinese Government is pressing the issue.

Not impressed with Apple's QA of late. Touch disease, battery problems on iPhones are not good news.

What is going on in Apple's health area applications? VP Yoky Matsuoka leaving?
health is potentially a big possibility for Apple Watch and the iPhone.

And, I have this question.
Does apple have any intrinsic advantage in building a search engine. For example, apple controls the hardware.
Could they take on google with search?

Given how crappy competing search engines are, and Apple's ineptness in terms of software intelligence (maps giving me search results on other continents, as an example), I highly doubt they would succeed. I used to be all for it but frankly it's not easy to do and it doesn't look like they have the talent.

I am not a search expert by any stretch, but DuckDuckGo fills my modest needs just fine.

I prefer not to give google anymore information about me than necessary.

Late to the party, but my double pennies on search. Apple has search and it is Siri. Of course, Siri is also your cloud computer too. And digital assistant. And maybe someday your concierge, banker, college professor, wardrobe critic. Siri started as an API for loosely-associated apps. After Apple bought it that DNA has stayed the same: Siri makes a judgement call about which app you might need and feeds you results through that interface lens. Not at all natural and a stumble in the right direction. Apple is doing it better with their (as yet vaporware) "TV" application, where Apple knows you are clearly watching TV, but don't care how it serves you the correct content. I can see the lessons Apple learns about serving aggregated solutions in the TV silo being cross-connected to other tentpole silos, like navigation, home automation, music playback, even locating services while commuting (fuel, charging station, coffee, rest rooms). But the real analog world is still very slippery.
